This got me thinking (and I was going to respond in thread, but some people just can't play nice )...

I'm a beach bum, and as much as people say I would get bored, I want nothing more in life than to retire now, and live on a beach for the rest of my life. Florida, Caribbean, Australia, South Pacific...doesn't matter. As long as I've got a chair to sit in and a surf to look upon, I'm happy.

What about you guys? If you didn't have to work for any reason, where would you end up?

Re: Where would you go?

Here's me deal. I definitely be a beach type but not a reclusive beach. I'd want to go somewhere close enough to all the creature comforts I want and far enough away that I'd never have to see anyone if I didn't want to. There are places in Fla that would work best probably. Gulf side. Find me a small little key and buy it. Put a ginormous house on it made to utilize every hurricane prep product/service known to man. Something only reachable by boat probably.

Sportsbar at the beach. I love small beach communities, and Ive gone to Ocracoke Island for the last 15 years. Id own a sportsbar either at Ocracoke or somewhere else on the Outterbanks. Dream on.

Re: Where would you go?

I'll have me a BBQ/Crabshack on the Outerbanks in a few years. You watch.

Fish and play on the beach in the morning, sell BBQ all day and play guitar in the bars at night. Ahhhhh the Pirate's Life for me!

peace

This would be a possibility. I like my address to be a lat/lon

I'm with you.

I love the Clearwater area in Florida. I'd want to be somewhere like that, where I could be on the beach one minute and at the mall or store the next minute.

Re: Where would you go?

If I won a million dollars I'd buy beach front property that also allowed me to have horses. Enough land for a barn. I'd ride on the beach, and in the Ocean. That's my dream home.

Re: Where would you go?

Somewhere in the Caribbean would be great. It's my home away from home now and I love it.

That or the International Space Station. How bad ass would that be?

<<ring, ring>>

"Hey Matty, what's up?"

"Smack, what's going down?!"

"You know, just chillin', floatin' around pouring Coronas down my throat, watching the game from my personal satellite...on the International Space Station!"

Re: Where would you go?

I'd keep life kind of simple and buy a 60 foot boat and enjoy all the beaches around the world. Do some deep sea fishing to keep plenty of freash seafood on board and just travel around with no particular place to be. Not sure what I'd do with the wife and the kid because when you fantasize about something like that it has 2 or 3 young ladies in small bikinies laying around the boat. Not a wife nagging you and a kid crying in the background.

Re: Where would you go?

I've never really been on vacation and the furthest south i've gone is North Carolina so i'm not really thinking anywhere tropical. I am pretty sure i would stay right in the area and not move more than 15 minutes from my house. I would get a much bigger house though. I would definitely buy a house in College Park because I have a lot of family that'll could be going there(7 younger cousins and syblings, two of which are probably are going to maryland in the next 2 years). THey could use a nice big house. I would 'pimp' the hell out of it too.

Even if I won like 10 million i don't think i would get a house in florida or anything. I might but if I won like 25 million I would definatley get something in florida to hang out at in the winter and the summer.

Lots of cars and fun stuff though. That is how i would like to spend my money.

Re: Where would you go?

I would buy a really nice home in an upscale community of San Diego ( Rancho Santa Fe or La Jolla).

Or I would live in a suite at Fedex Field.

Honestly I am thinking about buying an island when I retire. They are relatively cheap(1-2mil) for a small decent sized on. Only thing I am seriously worried about is paying for a fresh water refining plant and piracy.

But I hope to get one.

Re: Where would you go?

I would keep my home base right here at home, but I'd do a ton of traveling.

Assuming money was no object, I'd probably own a beach house, a house on a golf course to which I belonged, a condo in Vegas, and a house in the mountains somewhere. I'd probably bounce around from house to house, but also spend lots of time in Europe and the Carribbean at resorts.
