Re: A good off-season review for the Redskins
I do think we drafted fairly well with the picks we had, but we really needed to get a DE or DT instead of the extra LB. We can have a great secondary, but if the opposing QB has an easy time in the pocket, anyone can get burned bad. That is why I hope we can still get a FA D lineman, and not go for McCardell.

Re: A good off-season review for the Redskins
I think landry and taylor will become a great tandem in this league for years to come. However if we cant put presser on the QB, we could be in for another rough year on Defense! Also I think JC will become the breakout player in 07.

Re: A good off-season review for the Redskins
Gus, the year before last, and the year before that, etc. How did we get pressure on the quarterback? (Hint, it was a good secondary that allowed us to play man coverage and blitz). We don't need super passrushers at DE as long as our secondary doesnt get so banged up.

Either the coaches are insane, or they have good reason to be confident in the defensive lineman currently on the roster. I'll tend to go with the latter.

After all, what better evidence of their wizardry was there than the 2006 season? |

Re: A good off-season review for the Redskins
I don't think I said anything like that at all, I simply said I tend to believe they know what they're doing. What's more crazy... trusting the coaches or some armchair fan's opinion?

You shouldn't.I call it as I see it and I see it this way NFC EAST........ 1)Skins ....one of the first quite off season's you've had and I think it will beifit you. 2)Cowboys/Giants.......this is tuff but I'll give the edge to the boys.It could very easly go to the Giants I'm not sure about our running game ,Eli,our LBers or coaching other than that we'll kick ass. 4) Eagles,McNabb is on his way out and I think Philly is pushing him. |

Re: A good off-season review for the Redskins
In the 2 seasons prior I'd say the coaches won out regarding the performance of the defense. We'll see how things play out this year. I'll still put my money on the coaches over the fan anyday.

Re: A good off-season review for the Redskins
And I still say coaches are flawed human beings just like armchair fans are. Sometimes the fans were right, and sometimes the coaches are right.
As an organization, we can say with some degree of clarity that the Washington Redskins haven't been right all that much considering their success since, oh ... about 1991. |
