Positional Rankings- No 'Skins in the top 6 at any position?

Here are CBSSportsline's Positional Rankings (not including special teams). I was surprised to see they do not have a single Redskin ranked in the top 6 at any position on offense or defense. I certainly think Sean Taylor is a top 6 safety, and Jansen and Samuels are top 6 at tackle and guard respectively. What do you think? Half of the list was made by Pete friggin' Prisco, so that could be a reason why...

I don't take anything that Pete "On Crack" Prisco writes as serious, like c'mon FRED TAYLOR the 5th best RB in the league? Right now I don't even think he is the best RB on his team!
Ben Watson over Cooley?
Dawan Landry over Sean Taylor? Heck Dawan wasn't a starter till October! I'd take LaRon over Dawan right now.

I think the Skins should have Sean Taylor and Cooley there, possibly Samuels.

I'd say Cooley is a top 6 TE but, come to think of it, I don't really think anyone else is. Sean Taylor, Chris Samuels, Randy Thomas, Clinton Portis, Santanna Moss, and Marcus Washington are real close, I guess. All in all, I think we have a lot of really good players, just not incredibly great players.

This is absolute horse shit! We should at least have Christ (Chris) Cooley or Shaun Taylor! Does anyone disagree with this? Hell you might even consider Mike Sellers in the top 6!

Yeah, I forgot about Cooley. Sheesh. These guys are either Skins haters, total morons, or some combination of the two. I agree that the Dawan Landry pick was a joke, and Fred Taylor, while a very good player, wasn't even the best RB on his team last year (Jones-Drew with 16 TDs anyone??)

Come on guys... He didnt even have Mack Strong or Mike Sellers as top 5 fullbacks. And didnt even have London Fletcher on D...hes averaged what 130 tackels over the last 4 years? Prisco is a joke.

correction: over the last 4 years he has averaged 144.5 tackles/year

Re: Positional Rankings- No 'Skins in the top 6 at any position?

Guys I have posted before about what all the preaseason mags are saying about us. None of them think we will finish higher than 3rd in our division much less reach the postseason. Street and Smith had us at 3rd, Athlons, Sporting News had us 4th, as well as Lindy's. If we do rather well it will shock the hell out of everyone. I was surprised ranking my players that Cooley wasn't top 4, but reading all these preseason rags I can see why everyone else is totally under the radar in terms of rankings. Damn, I didn't even see LLyod in the top 60 for WRs. JC moved up to 24 from 26 with the QB rankings though. You have to remember they are going on last year's perfromance, plus the fact we play 9 playoffs teams this season. Don't take stock in what these guys say, it will be funny as hell if we do make the playoffs though showing these guys are morons. That being said though, I am going to take a wait and see approach with drafting Skins to my FF teams(get them via FA like MR Snyder!!). A big point these rags did make was that for a change we didn't really change from last year, so why expect more? To be honest I am leaning towards agreeing with them.

Because in past years the argument for not picking the Redskins was that we changed too much and were not buidling consistency and chemistry. Now we are, with some tweaks to the defense. But our offense will be exactly the same as the last half of last year with one change (Dock is gone). Well, I suppose two-since Portis will be back. But the point is the chemistry they say our team never has, it should be there this year.

I hope someone shows this to Cooley and Samuels. It's all to the good. I'm telling you, these other teams are in for a shock.

The thing I like is that we're waaaay under the radar. None of the "experts" think we'll be anything to talk about. And I love that. In '04 it was all about Gibbs' 1st season back in the league and all the hype around that. Then we stunk and no one talked about us going into '05. Low and behold, 11 wins and a trip to 2nd round of the playoffs. Then we go get Saunders, Arch, ARE, Lloyd, and everyone is talking Super Bowl. HA! We flopped. And now again, no hype or respect. That's fine with me. Our guys seem to play better when they aren't respected.

Re: Positional Rankings- No 'Skins in the top 6 at any position?

You bring up a good point Smooty, and that is why I think there is a chance we can have a great year. Chemistry is very important to make a run for the Lombardi. Thing is we really needed to upgrade the defensive line and we ended up getting 2 LBs that more or likely will just end up being special teams lifers. Landry was the only guy we drafted that will make any impact for us in the near future. In terms of fantasy value, I was a homer last year had Moss, Cooley, Redskins D, and JC for a bit as backup/starter when MB was finally pulled. I ended up dumping Moss rather quick, but lucked out when some fool cut TO. JC stunk and I lucked out when someone dumped Romo. Skins D blew chunks last year and I can't see the addition of Fletcher and Landry a rook making that much of an impact on a sorry ass unit. Cooley came through for me less than the previous season(I have had Cooley on all my FF teams since he became a Skin). People have said JC and Llyod have been working together in the offseason, so hopefully we will see marked improvement come the Miami opener. I just think guys should wait til week 2-3 before picking any Skins FAs out there. Drafting them as starters is just too risky IMHO. Only a marked increase in execution will get us to the playoffs this year. To me that is a 50/50 proposition.

I would like to know how Prisco has Greg Jones as the 6th best FB instead of Sellers, and Mack Strong when Jones MISSED ALL OF LAST SEASON! This just shows you how much of an idiot Pete Prisco is.
