Redskins Insider: Medical Check-up
Redskins Insider
Sorry for the late post - I have endured massive laptop problems and the thing just finally booted up 5 minutes ago - but had a chance to chat with director of sports medicine, Bubba Tyer, for a few minutes this afternoon. He says everyone is ready to go for Friday and they expect every player to be able to participate fully in all drills when the whistle blows Friday afternoon. Clinton has been around the facility and Bubba said he ran 16 100-yard dashes the other day at his normal time, which was a great indication that his knee tendonitis is behind him. Brunell is good to go. Wynn and Daniels will have their health restrictions lifted for the first time all offseason and Randy Thomas is back from his knee scope. Guys who are coming off long-term injuries - like Clinton, Springs, Marcus, Santana - will be watched closely and, like in years past, when there are two-a-days veterans coming off injuries may be held out of a session or two as a preventative measure, Bubba said, but when they do practice they will do so without restriction. As for Bubba, one of my favorite characters in this game, he says he drove up to Buffalo for a wedding this offseason, then down the coast all the way to deep in Louisiana, where he checked in on the Manning's passing camp for high school kids, then down into Texas, back to his home. This is the calm before the storm for the trainers, because, by Friday night undoubtedly the training room will be filled with guys with scrapes, bumps and injuries. That's football, folks. |

Re: Redskins Insider: Medical Check-up
I am suprised to hear that MB is "good to go". I thought his rehab from surgery was supposed to last well into training camp with questions to whether he would be ready at all for the preseason. I hope he is not rushing himself back. We may need him at some point this season and rushing him back now could prove costly.

This is all good news, but I would rather this inside info come after the first week of Training Camp. Everything will feel good now because of the light workouts they've been through. I really hope that this is a sign that we won't have the injury problems again.

Re: Redskins Insider: Medical Check-up
I am seriou when I say that Portis should see the field about 6 times this offseason either in practice or games. The last thing we need is for him to tweak that knee and it end up being a season long issue. Give him two carries a game for the games and let him run through the motions at practice. For that matter keep the weight off Betts too. We have plenty of RBs to shoulder the loads in the pre-season. Betts ought to get just as much respect in this case as Portis. They are our biggest weapons on offense right now. We need to keep them fresh and ready.

It's good to hear they're pretty healthy headed into camp. Of course that can change very quickly, but at least it's good to hear guys like Moss and Portis are ready to rock.

Re: Redskins Insider: Medical Check-up
lets hope for a clean and healthy season as well. This is great news. No injuries this season.
One person won't be at camp on Friday though... me. I won't be able to make it to camp until the second to the last one or maybe i won't be able to until the very last one. . Screeeemage though. |

Re: Redskins Insider: Medical Check-up
None of us as fans can control anything that happens with this team except the support we give them, so there is no use in worrying about injuries that haven't happened yet.
I'll be interested to see three things: 1. What kind of bounce Portis has in his step 2. What kind of bounce Marcus Washington has in his step 3. Whether Brunell looks noticably different from the first half of last year in terms of mobility and arm strength. I'm just a little curious. I fully expect Campbell to blow up this year and for him to see as little action as possible.
