Todd Collins Expected to Start

I don't think we should read too much into this, but definitely worthy of keeping our eyes on.

Re: Todd Collins Expected to Start

Not really. Gibbs said if JC misses the next game against the Jags, Brunell would start.

He's just giving everyone work with the first team. Who knows, it COULD be to protect Brunell.

It will be:

1. Campbell
2. Brunell
3. Collins

I'd love to replace Collins with Palmer and get him developed into the future backup though.

Re: Todd Collins Expected to Start

brunell and collins were to rotate the position throughout pre-season. So shouldn't brunell be ahead of collins right now because collins was ahead last week? That is what makes this a bit interesting.

I don't think this is very telling of anything though. I don't think either are going anywhere. Put J. Palmer on the practice team and keep both brunell and collins.

Why can't we go ahead with the selection of a number two?

Since we were almost relegated last week to having the second string QB be the starter, why can't we just decide on one.

I agree. My decision is Collins, and that is only becuase the grass is always greener kind of thought. I think I know what Brunell does for us after what he's shown me in the past 2 seasons. Collins might not have the big arm strength but he's my choice. I know I don't have a choice in the matter but Im disappointed at both of our backups personally. My hopes and dreams all come down to the offensive line and the health of Jason Campbell.

Didn't Brunell have some offseason surgery? Maybe they are holding him back because he isn't 100%

I would love to see Palmer replace Brunell instead of Collins. All our quarterbacks have looked good, but Collins has done the best.

Lineup:
1. Campbell
2. Collins
3. Brunell

They're doing this so Brunell will start against Jax.

Re: Todd Collins Expected to Start

When did the notion start that Collins doesn't have great arm strength? I'm starting to hear this more and more, and now it seems to be the gospel.

He threw a nice deep pass to Cooley against the Steelers, and threaded a pretty nice needle with the appropriate velocity to Lloyd for the TD.

Must a quarterback fire off a Brett Farve-like rocket with every single attempt in order to avoid the "weak arm" label?

Re: Todd Collins Expected to Start

it could also be as simple as Brunell has played ALOT with the 1st string over the last two seasons. He already has a sense of timing with Rabach, Cooley and Moss. Collins, on the other hand, has had very limited time with the 1st unit. But if we need our 2nd string or 3rd string at times during the season, it would be nice to know that both Brunell and Collins have spent some time on the field with them.

Re: Todd Collins Expected to Start

If we need our 3rd string guy this season, well we are screwed. I really want to see the Palmer kid. He has yet to play in Preseason so I think he is headed to the practice squad unless we do something rash with Brunnel.

His arm is weaker than most. I'm not saying he can't throw it 20 yards but there are definitely places he wouldn't even think about trying to squeeze the ball in.

We will see what he can do against the Ravens. It comes down to whether or not his smarts are enought to compensate for his physical handicaps (he has no mobility either, none) against what everyone claims is one of the leagues best defensive groups.

Re: Todd Collins Expected to Start

I hope the Ravens aren't a bunch of cheap shot artists like the Steelers are so that we won't see any more QB's go down this week. I hope Brett Keisel and the rest of the cheap shot Steelers get what's coming to them! No wonder they won the Super Bowl a couple of years ago with stuff like that!

Hey folk,
Here's a question for you...
Which QB has been taking the reps with the first team since Campbell has gone down? Does anyone know?
