Chris Cooley signs contract extension!!
Per Jason La Canfora:
Redskins Insider "Cris Cooley signed a 6-year contract extension, he said, and just talked to us about it. It happened very quickly, Chris said, and he is very excited. A big weight off his shoulders." More from J-La: "It really came together in the past two days. Chris said he was discussing his uncertain situation with some of the positions coaches maybe 5 days ago or so and then within the past couple of days Dan Snyder made a push to get it done" Note: Cooley's position coach is Rennie Simmons. Way to be Rennie!

Cooley Gets Contract Extension!
Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so glad he's locked up. One less problem we have to worry about. Here's hoping he earns his first Pro Bowl this season.

Re: Cooley Re-Signed
Thats really good news. I am really happy to have Captain Chaos locked up for 6 more years. He's a core redskin and great for this team. Now that Cooley has his deal lets make sure to get Taylor his. I think hes a free agent after next season but Im not certain.

Re: Cooley Re-Signed
The good news just keeps on coming. Notice how the vibe of this season is already sooooo much different then the beginning of last season, or is it just me. Cooley should retire as a Redskin and I do predict his 1st pro bowl selection this year, move over Alge Crumpler its going to be Shockey and Cooley......I'm so ready for Week 1 to get here.....IS IT THE 9th YET!!!!!!

Re: Cooley Re-Signed
Redskins give tight end Cooley six-year contract extension
That article on NFL.com says he got 6 years, 30 million, with a 14 million signing bonus. Good deal for him, I like it and he deserves it. I'm glad to see us extend our homegrown players, I'd much rather see us rely on the draft and then extend rather than do what we do in free agency.

He probably could have commanded more on the open market but I think he really wanted to stay here. I'm going to break out my Cooley jersey today to celebrate! |

Re: Cooley Re-Signed
6 Years, $14 million to sign, worth up to $30 million in total money (including the $14 million bonus).
That's a friggin bargain for a player of his caliber. Way to go Skins. See what happens when we're proactive with resigning our core guys? First Betts, now Cooley. Two key offensive cogs, both at a bargain price.
