Chris Wilson

This guy needs to start point blank. This kid is extremely fast and we are going to need his pass rushing skills along with Carter's. Not to take anything from Daniels but it seems like he is much better in the middle with Griffin than at Left End. If we are going to make this Cover-2 scheme work more efficiently we are going to have to get to the quarterback more often like the Bears did last season and the Colts defense.

Re: Chris Wilson

Sometimes with those overzealous pass rushers, they miss the obvious play like say an off tackle run to their side. If GW continues to play the scheme he implemented against Detroit and GB, we need our defensive line to stop the run. I think thats why Daniels is better suited for this scheme. We cant depend on our LB's to make the play if they are lining up 10 yards off the ball and dropping into soft zones.

Re: Chris Wilson

Yes, he only seems to be comfortable with the speed rush around the end from what I can see. Needs to work a little on the technique and just keep getting better. I think he could be a needle in the haystack kind of find if he continues to improve.

Once Marcus Washington comes back it will be interesting to see how the use Wilson.

Speaking of MW, isn't it amazing how well the D is playing without him? Could he be expendable after the season?

Re: Chris Wilson

Wilson was a nice find.

Funny that his signing caused such an uproar early in the offseason.

He is good but should NOT start. He plays specifically passing downs and that is what he is suited for. He is only 240 and can't hold up for a full game at DE. We never actually seen him against the run. Also P. Daniels is playing really well so why mess that up?

I love the fact that we can rest some of our Dline men for a passing down or rotate in the middle and not lose a beat, that is one BIG reason our D is playing so well. That and the overall speed and pursuit.

Re: Chris Wilson

Wilson is a good situational pass rusher, but he's clearly not ready to start. Put away the crack.

I get where u are coming from with this, and i almost let myself think the same way this sunday when i saw him in street clothes...then i remembered that this was the problem we got into last year with our ego. We thought that Pierce wasn't as valuable as he was and it burned us last year by not signing him. I don't wanna make the same mistake but rather err on the side of caution, pay the man (as long as he's not asking for too much), and keep the chemistry roling. Just like in business, its harder to bring in new guys, develop them, and get them up to speed even if they are more qualified, so lets stick with what we know is going to work cuz he's not too old.

Re: Chris Wilson

MW is VERY valuable to this team! He is much better than Godfrey and plays with extreme intesity.

Agreed. Plus he is under contract so we don't have to worry about that. I just hope we don't try to low ball him and ask him to cut his pay. Plus I don't think we would do that remember Godfrey is 34 and opted for 1 more year instead of retirement.

I don't know what are Cap status is for next year, but I do know that we don't have 1 FA out of our starting 22 after this year. So we are in control going forward.
