Laron Landry turned loose!

Other than the helmet to helmet shot on Clemens, Landry had a hell of a day. I was reading that GW turned him loose and let him blitz when he wanted to and it really seemed to pay off, especially on that wicked shot where he drilled Clemens for the sack. He seems to have a great feel for blitzing.

Knew the kid was a player. He did a great job after his mistake. But even a penalty when you whack the crap out of the QB is worth it to me. Made that QB think and look for #30 the rest of the whole day.

Good work Landry!

Sure, it was helmet to helmet, but MAN it was awesome.

Re: Laron Landry turned loose!

Yeah, Landry had a hell of a game. I was pissed about the personal foul on Clemens because it basically gave the Jets three points, but you could see the effects of the hit for the rest of the game. Any time Landry blitzed after that play, Clemens panicked and tossed a crappy pass, or immediately ran out of the pocket.

Landry played lights out all day. I'm glad Leon Washington didn't make that catch when he seperated from Landry; he learned from it and continued making great plays.

Re: Laron Landry turned loose!

The above looks sarcastic...its not. Landry is fast and can blitz well--better than well.

Damn straight! I say it was almost worth the 15 yard penalty. Almost...

Landry will be a star in the league. People have already called him a more physical Troy Polamalu.

Shameless self-promotion. It is what it is.

Re: Laron Landry turned loose!

I liked how Landry was all over the field, but I saw him miss several tackles. Am I the only one that saw this?

Re: Laron Landry turned loose!

Yeah he still doesn't take the best angles and there was that one play where he just shoved the guy and didn't go for a solid tackle. Considering he's still a rookie though I can't complain too much. He's still pretty damn solid for a rookie safety.

Yeah he hasn't given up big plays, which is key. He and Taylor work well together, which is even more key. And he'll only get better, which is most key of all.

Re: Laron Landry turned loose!

He's still learning--safety is not that easy to pick up, and especially when playing for GW. But we saw why he was drafted where he was. The two licks he put on Clemens were nasty--what speed coming off that corner.

Got to keep it up, and learn the angles and fakes--he bit hard there on one, but the Jets are just too weak to convert. Others will not be so forgiving. But we could afford to turn him lose yesterday, and it was nice to see.

Any more keys we need to be aware of?!?!

I have a feeling G-Dub is going to blitz more down the stretch, make teams beat the defense deep, as opposed to the deep zone the Skins have been playing. The Patriots have shown the league how to pick it apart, and now G-Dub will adjust.

Landry is going to be a special player, and it certainly doesn't hurt that Taylor is back there helping him out and complimenting each other's strengths.
