SBF's Local Take on The Passing of #21

I cried like many of you but I wanted to say and tell you what I have ween in Redskins Nation here near Washington DC.

My first waking moment this morning I know I was praying for Sean Taylor even before my eyes opens. I got up at 6:30am edt and my wife was up and had coffee made. I got in wheelchair and rolled into the kitchen. There she had set out a Redskins coffee cup for me so I smiled for her love of me and the Skins.

She was out of the room and so I poured some coffee and caught out of the corner of my eye "Sean Taylor is Dead" on the TV. I turned, stunned for a second and watched. It sunk in and I just cried.

I wheeled down the hall and opened the bathroom door where my wife was drying her hair and she looked at me with my tears and asked "What's wrong?" I said "He's dead.". She said I know and I just balled and she bent down and hugged me. I was crushed and still am.

When I went early to get to the Redskins Store the place had 50-75 people standing out front as the gate opened. They grabbed EVER ST thing in site.

I spent some time looking at Skins stuff and then just walked around looking at faces. We all looked like we were just punched in the belly. We all had a tear ready to drop if just 1 of us said a single word. I had to leave. I walked outside in the Mall and just stood there and looked back in at the fan.

There are many, many people walking around in any Redskins stuff they have. Cowboy fans have come over to me at the local watering hole and gave me a pat on the back. They feel my/our pain.

I love the Redskins and I love being a Redskins fan. I hurt over Sean Taylor cus I loved Sean Taylor. My pain equals my love and I'll take that cus it is what it is.

Locally in DC we are crushed.
I WILL be at this week's game and our Redskins BETTER smack the F' out of the Bills and tattoo the #21 on all their foreheads!

This will be one of those "Do you remember where you were when you heard Sean Taylor Died?" Threads.

I'll remember that like 911.
Both days I cried in my coffee.

Hail Skins and Hail Taylor!!!!

Re: SBF's Local Take on The Passing of #21

I woke up this morning and came right here like I usually do. When I saw the thread title 'Sean Taylor has died' my heart just sunk. I didn't click on the thread right away, I just kept hoping it was a cruel joke or maybe I was reading it wrong.

I was entering the Fort Mchenry tunnel when they annouced it on the radio around 6:30 am. My heart sunk and tears came out of my eyes. I flashed back to when Reggie Lewis died and I had the same punch in the gut feeling.

Re: SBF's Local Take on The Passing of #21

I turned on ESPN this morning and they were just showing NFL highlights, so at first I figured ST was okay, then I looked over at the segment list they have on the right side of the screen, and the third block down said "Sean Taylor has died"...my heart was broken...the segment came on a few minutes later...it was the lead story at the top of the hour.

So very sad...he had his whole life in front of him, and he always gave 110% on the field...things ain't ever gonna be the same around DC...RIP, Sean...you'll be missed...

I am being forced to use every fiber of my body to keep from completely losing it here at work after reading your post. I too share your grief and sadness as many others as well. Tragedies like this make one question their faith, but we must not.

Yeah todays been extremely tough today for all of us. I had to use a sick day because I really couldn't motivate myself to go to work. I've cried my eyes out and cant bear to read another ST bashing article. He'll be missed.

Re: SBF's Local Take on The Passing of #21

I got very ill last night in the middle of the night. It was around 3:30-4:00 AM. While I was up I checked ESPN News and there was no word. Other than the earlier report that he had some movement. So I went back to sleep feeling very sick. I left the TV on. I awoke this morning at aournd 9 am and the first thing i remember thinking was I hope sean is ok. The next word that I heard echo down the hall way from the tv were " SEAN TAYLOR WAS DEAD"..... I was crushed. I cried. I got myself ready for work. I have the ability to wear what ever I like to work so I dawned my ST # 21 home maroon jersey and went to work. I was so very distraught and truly got nothing done. MY boss is a SKins fan and we cried together when I told him. I will never forget this day. It had a 911 tone to the beggining of the day. SAD extremely distraught news on the television echoing down the hall way. Yes I will always remember today.

I feel your pain Sammy Baugh Fan.

Re: SBF's Local Take on The Passing of #21

I went to bed feeling better about the whole situation last night. But when I got out of the shower this morning I turned on ESPN at it hit me like a ton of bricks. In the corner of the screen it said Sean Taylor died. I am still in shock right now and deeply saddened by the loss of a truly great Father, Son and Redskin. I haven’t been able to do any work all day. I feel like I'm just going to wake up from a really bad dream. On my lunch break I watched Comcast sports trying to make some sense out if this whole situation but as the hour went by I just started to feel worse and worse. My prayers go out to Sean and his Family. I hope the Skins retire #21 I really don't want to see anyone else ever wear it again. I've been choking back tears all day while wearing my Taylor jersey at work. I just can’t believe he’s gone! R.I.P Sean, like Gibbs said you’re in a better place now. I will always love you for the joy that you gave me and all the other Redskins fans out there.
