We have Gardener to give away? No we don't!!! He's a proven 1000 yard catcher no one else on the roster besides Coles is. No my friend, the season is upon us and we don't have Gardener to give away.

man what did Miami ever do to deserve this??
i'd be more than willing to trade 50/50 for Ogun now that they need a reciever, but i'd imagine Ogun is Miami's best asset right now, and they'd save it for a back since their offense/playbook is more tuned to that than passing. |

1. Gibbs is definitely interested in Wale - too many rumors for it not to be so. 2. Gardner drops too many passes - and it ALWAYS seems to be in a key (3rd down) situation. He will be on the bench by week 4 - get something for him!! 3. Ogunleye has proven to be a premier pass rusher. The Redskins DEFINITELY need one. If you don't believe it, read what ALL of the "experts" say (both PRO Skins and ANTI Skins). That is a real problem area for the team. 4. WR is our only "overstocked" position. (Don't count TE - none of them have any drawing power). Depth is nice, but NOT at the expense of leaving another key position weak. 5. Someone said we can't afford him. One of the Redskins' typical backloaded contracts will do the job. Gardner's trade opens up over $1M this year, more next. And the final roster has not yet been decided...

plus we will get the money back for Walt Harris. We could afford him, I dont knwo if getting rid of Gardner is the best move though, Coles could go down at anytime with his toe. Jacobs is injured all the time, thrash is not a starting receiver.. that would leave us with that, McCants and Thrash at 1 and 2 if we trade Gardner and Coles goes down? Not a situation I want to be in. Expeciallsy ien out linebackers seem to be getting a lot of pressure.

I don't like the idea of giving up Gardner right when he is developing into a quality WR. I look for him to be in the Monk roll. While Coles will be in the Clark roll. Wale would be a great addition but I would rather trade next years #1 pick and let them find another WR or RB with that.

I don't see Gibbs making a move this late in the offseason.

bringing in a new player that would be that far behind already would be a bit hard... williams has adapted his defense already, and having a new pass rusher means changing the defense for everyone, otherwise he wouldn't be as useful... either way, i highly doubt it'll happen.

right, but to use him effectively, you shouldn't just plug him in in place of a D linemen, and all the minicamps are done etc... it can be done, but every day later makes it less likely. If you going to get him and play him as if he were upshaw quality... well, that's a waste of his talent.
and ramsey's missed camp cost him, it took him a while to recover from that. |

Anything could happen I guess, I just think O-Gun is a long shot.

I agree with the sentiment that we can't afford to trade Rod Gardner. Yes, Laveranues Coles could be out at any minute. His injury recovery seems fragile and I think he might have been wise to get that surgery.
I think that adding a player like Ogunleye is more likely after the season. We don't have to solve all of our problems in one year and if we try to hard to do so, we may hurt ourselves in the long run. |
