Is Troy Smith The Future For Baltimore?
To be a rookie QB I think TS did pretty good lead his team down field and put the Ravens in field goal range two drives in a row for Stover to miss the last one. Will he be a pro bowl don't know? But I would give him a shot no doubt.

Re: Is Troy Smith The Future For Baltimore?
i liked him...
he seemed comfortable with what he was doing and he was getting support on the sidelines and smiles from his teamates... just too bad their kicker couldn't finish the deal.. IMO you let him play the remaining games and try to let him open the field as much as possible..since you're not really playing for anything except respect |

He;s their future right now. Boller hasn't shown that he can do it and there is no one else. Smith has looked ok.

Re: Is Troy Smith The Future For Baltimore?
i thought smith was the best qb on the roster in august, and the steal of the draft (besides, you know, randy moss... wolfe was a good value too, but a bigger gamble).
they have nothing to lose, and ts has played well, except for one game in college. |

Re: Is Troy Smith The Future For Baltimore?
Smith looked like he wasn't a rookie out there last week. He was calm, collected, etc. He is way better than Boller. Boller should leave the NFL soon. He is just terrible. He makes more boneheaded mistakes than Eli does.

Re: Is Troy Smith The Future For Baltimore?
The Ravens stink, Billick seems to have lost his players. If Troy Smith is the future for them at QB I'd hate to be a Ravens fan for the next 5 or so years.

Re: Is Troy Smith The Future For Baltimore?
Well, he's their only decent option. McNair is finished, Boller has failed a few chances...who else?

Re: Is Troy Smith The Future For Baltimore?
Smith seems to be a promising young player. Why not give him the nod next year? McNair is done, and Boller is well... Boller.

Re: Is Troy Smith The Future For Baltimore?
He may have potential, but we are talking two drives here against maybe the worst team in NFL history.
And this guy is listed at 6'0 , meaning he is probably not even 6 feet tall..

Re: Is Troy Smith The Future For Baltimore?
Yes, it's been reported that Boller is starting this weekend...
The job is Boller's -- baltimoresun.com Troy Smith is the future of that franchise...and I just can't foresee Brian Billick still there after this season. Even before the Miami debacle, the Ravens have lost 7 straight. And while he's won more than he's lost, he's 1-3 in the playoffs since 2000. Kyle Boller was the product of a Cal system that allowed him to excel without being a good QB. When he was drafted by Billick, he was supposed to be the QB that Chris Redman wasn't and Billick's ego will not allow him to let go. And while it's no surprise, last year's playoff apperance was their first since '03 (when Jamal Lewis went ape shit and it didn't matter who was handing the ball off to him, Boller was 5-3 as a starter that year before getting hurt) was with Steve McNair, not Boller at the helm. Boller is nothing more than a backup at best.

Re: Is Troy Smith The Future For Baltimore?
Boller is horrible and McNair is done. I don't know if Smith will play again this year but I'm sure that whoever is coaching the Ravens next year will want to bring in his own QB. I wouldn't be suprised if an offensive minded coach is hired and they draft a QB w/ their top pick.
