Landry's nickname in the locker room

"Dirty 30"

I hadn't heard that before, but I just read about it in an article quoting Marcus Washington:

Quote:
Several defensive players supported rookie safety LaRon Landry a day after the first-round pick was flagged for another 15-yard penalty in a key situation Sunday night. "I like it, I like the attitude," linebacker Marcus Washington said. "Guys watched that last night on TV and they watch film and it kind of strikes a little fear in them when 'Dirty 30' is back there. It definitely sends a message." Defensive end Phillip Daniels agreed. "He reminds you of somebody, don't he?" Daniels asked. "He reminds you of Sean Taylor a little bit. He's just got to be smart."
I searched, but didn't find anything (actually, I found 400 threads, but that's a bit too many to look through).

I assume it's a "dirty south" reference, and not a "Roy Williams" reference. I like it!

Only problem with it is I think B-Mitch was nick-named dirty-30. I dont know what the unspoken rules are in regards to nick-names of previous players, but Im sure the 'soft spoken' B-Mitch will let them know, lol.

I like it, he's definitely a little ball of fire. I like how GW puts him near the line of scrimmage and then he squirts back and plays center field...he is one fast SOB.

According to "King822" over at The Scout, Mitchell got the nickname in Philly. If true, then that definitely wouldn't count.

Sounds great, but it's just the type of nickname that will attract more attention to a guy the league is already looking for an excuse to punish.

In one of the post games, BM said (essentially) "Well, he can't use Dirty-30 cause that was MY nickname." BM admitted he got the name in Philly but said that didn't matter b/c its a league thing. Ray Brown seemed to concur with BM's take.

He's our dirty 30.

Who cares about B-Mitch now anyway.

Agreed - nicknames given to guys after they left the Skins don't count. With all due respect to B-Mitch, Landry is our "Dirty 30".

how the hell can any eagle fan call someone dirty? with how many years of Andre Waters, the cheapest sob around, playing safety for them. and Jon Runyon isn't exactly a clean player, either

By the way, while Ray Brown's insight hasn't really been special, I actually have enjoyed his commentary on the Redskins report on Comcast. He's got a good tv presence.

I think he meant that Duce gave him the nickname when Mitchell was on the E-girls squad, not when he was playing for the Skins.

Now how in the heck do you know that the NFL is looking to punish LL. These comments are so old.

Well if another lineman goes down we may need him to play against Dallas and in the playoffs.
