S Omar Stoutmire resigned

We have resigned 10-year veteran Omar Stoutmire to help the secondary:

Redskins Re-sign Stoutmire

Does anyone know if he's a run-stopper, or more noted for his coverage skills?

He's more noted for his cheap shot on Leslie Sheppard years and years ago.

Omar Stoutmire played very well for us late 2005.. hopefully he can do the same and serve as reliable guy...

I was kinda hoping we'd go for Donovin Darius though...

Should we sign Troy Vincent just for the Dallas game?

I think if it was not so deap into the season the Skins may have signed another player. Stoutmire is a good signing because he plays special teams and allready knows our D. He can come in and play right away where another player would have to learn the system.

Re: S Omar Stoutmire resigned

From JLC:

Safety Omar Stoutmire, re-signed Wednesday, could end up being active this week. There is some concern that starting free safety LaRon Landry was unable to run much at all today and missed practice with his quad injury. Veteran safety Pierson Prioleau is having a hamstring problem, which leaves only second-year man Reed Doughty, under-sized special teams ace Vernon Fox at Stoutmire as healthy safeties.

The Skins are hoping Landry and Prioleau can do more Friday - the last practice day of the week - and at least one of them might come down to the game day decision.

Landry will be immensely important this weekend with the Redskins very likely to play 8 men in the box to stop the run and leaving Landry deep to play centerfield in a Cover-3 scheme.
