Moving to Japan......Oh noooooo.
All,
I searched the forums to see if there was any other post like this one, or close to this one but all I found was game threads for overseas. I'm wondering how the broadcasts of the games, and how much coverage the NFL get over there. If you have any info, it's welcome.

If there is no local sports bar that can get NFL games, talk to the Marines stationed at the American Embassy.
They usually have a hangout or might know of a place that transmits the games. When I lived over seas that is how I got to watch the games. They used to at least transmit the playoff games on a Armed Forces TV station. But that was a long time ago and I am not sure if they still do that. |

Search function, search function, search function guys. It has been in threads like 5 times and stickied once too I think. And yes you are going to need to download Sopcast or some other player.

Re: Moving to Japan......Oh noooooo.
hoo - hagams I think was referring to what kind of coverage in general Japan gets as far as the NFL goes. I threw in Sopcast knowing that it is one way to keep up, but I think he was referring to TV and Radio coverage...

Re: Moving to Japan......Oh noooooo.
You will definately be able to watch the games over there. I get the same amount of games in Iraq as i would in the states. Im assuming you are in the military based off the Norfolk area. Anyways it shouldnt be a problem at all. Im in Israel right now and I have caught every skins game this year except for 1.

Re: Moving to Japan......Oh noooooo.
buy a slingbox and leave it with a friend back home... that would be the cheapest for you (one time cost of 150-200) and it doesnt' hurt your friend...
watch all the games from your laptop, or connect it to your TV... I just bought one...its awesome.

Buy me a computer with one of those video cameras and I will set it up infront of the TV before the game. Heck, I'll even put it on the NFL Network on Sunday morning so you can see the pregame show.

Re: Moving to Japan......Oh noooooo.
Yeah, I have a slingbox and it works great, but you need someone back in the states for it to work. Sopcast is good too. The problem is that the games come on at 3 am on Monday so it is tough to watch them live. I usually dvr them and then watch them when I get home from work on Monday.
What part of Japan will you be in? |
