Redskins One headed to Arizona

As some of you may know, another message board does a good job tracking where Snyder's plane is. Every FA season, they follow the plane to try and figure out who we're bringing in. Well, they've been doing the same thing the last couple days. I guess his plane can't be tracked the way it used to be because Snyder has blocked that info, but one particular poster has a source who can get the information.

Yesterday, that poster posted at 9:21 AM that Redskins One was headed to Nashville. Today, at 9:10 AM, the same poster reported it was headed for Scottsdale, AZ.

The immediate assumption is obviously Grimm. But, we all know Scottsdale is a popular spot for the wealthy, so it could be someone else.

It would go nicely with the news that Buges and company want to stay with the team in 2008.

Well isn't that something. Good info, thanks.

Might also be Todd Haley (not likely) or Maurice Carthon (Rooney Rule)

Nice post dgreen, thanks.

One thing seems sure, the Danny is wasting no time in getting all his ducks in a row. No surprise there. I hope he's talking to Grimm.

Right. Sorry, I can't keep all my message boards straight. I thought that was already posted here. Here's the part from the article:

Quote:
The four assistants who date back to Gibbs' first Redskins tenure — offensive line coach Joe Bugel, 67; game-planners Don Breaux, 67, and Jack Burns, 59; and tight ends coach Rennie Simmons, 65 — all would like to return in 2008, even though they returned to Washington to work for their mentor. ...

Well don't take that as too much of a relief until we know who the new head coach is going to be. If its an outsider chances are they could change unless Grimm is in the picture. I think its a good idea that Snyder is trying to find his guy now because I believe there are 3 to 4 other team looking for a HC.

That would be interesting with Russ Grimm as the head coach and his offensive line coordinator being Joe Bugel. Of course they are all assistant head coaches anyway I guess.

Does hiring Grimm or any other candidate who is part of the skins family mean that Gibb's had a larger role in this hiring process than we know about? Maybe gibbs is lookin out for his former colleagues and assuring that they have a job under the new head coach's regime.

That's probably a bit of stretch I think...but I hope Joe is involved at least to some extent. It wouldn't surprise me if Danny gives a strong look at Grimm, given he grew up a Redskins fan.

Re: Redskins One headed to Arizona

Let's not all forget that Gibbs wanted to hire Grimm when he came back, but Pittsburgh denied us to interview him and gave him a promotion instead. Grimm is definately a Gibbs guy.

GRIMM VISITS WITH 'SKINS?

There's talk on the league grapevine that Cardinals offensive line coach Russ Grimm interviewed on Friday for the vacant head-coaching job with the Redskins.

It's only a rumor at this point -- not fact.

If it's a fact, it makes sense, given that Grimm was one of the "Hogs." And given that Grimm nearly was named the Steelers' coach last year at this time. In fact, there have been reports that Grimm actually had the job before the Steelers did an about-face and gave it to Mike Tomlin.

It's amazing, frankly, that Grimm hasn't gotten any consideration for the other vacant gigs. How does a guy go from being a finalist to off of the map in only one year? It's further proof as to how the media drives the process by focusing on assistant coaches from teams that are doing "well." But even though the Cardinals didn't make the playoffs (again), they have improved, and Grimm should still be in the mix for jobs.
