Redskins Audition, Sign Brown By Jason LaCanfora Washington Post Staff Writer Wednesday, August 11, 2004; 5:30 PM In the wake of the season-ending injury suffered by right tackle Jon Jansen, the Washington Redskins worked out a handful of offensive linemen this morning, signing one of the most durable players in recent league history. Veteran Ray Brown, 41, whose 16-year career includes a five-season stint with the Redskins between 1989-95, was added to the roster and worked out with the team today at Redskin Park. Since 1992, Brown has missed only one game. Brown started his career with the St. Louis Rams in 1986 and played there for two seasons. After a season in Arizona, Brown joined the Redskins in 1989. After playing in seven games as a reserve that season, Brown didn't play the next two years because of an elbow injury. But in 1992, he started eight times for Washington and played in all 16 games. By 1994, he was a full-time starter. He left Washington after the 1995 season and spent six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. He played the past two seasons with the Detroit Lions. |

He's like 90, Matt. I'd rather have Jansen playing on his crutches than Brown in his wheelchair =p

What are you thinking, Daseal??!!?? That motorized wheelchair will cut one hell of a path!!
Actually, I hope it works out. Jansen could be back for the playoffs LOL.

Wow. Brown is 41. That's really old. He played for Gibbs the first time around - that is really amazing.
How many guys are still around from Gibbs' first stint? Brian Mitchell. . .anyone else? |

Hogskin:
If Jansen is put on IR so he can be replaced on the roster, then he can't play in the playoffs even if the Skins get there and he is as healthy as a horse. But I do like you idea about a motorized wheelchair at RT. Now if we get Tim "The Toolman" Taylor to put a 359 cubic inch V-8 on that puppy... |

Correct. Ray Brown has been a guard for most of his career but I believe that he has played some tackle too.
