3 Best Memories in Gibbs II

1) Redskins 14 Dallas 13, Bomb to Moss as time expires.

2) Redskins 22, Dallas 19, Blocked kick, taylor return, game winning fg.

3) Portis' 64 yard td, first carry as a skin.

Re: 3 Best Memories in Gibbs II

1. Redskins 14, Dallas 13. That's still a night I'm going to remember forever.

2. Redskins 35, Dallas 7. I loved that game, it was complete domination from beginning to end, and it helped shut a whole hell of a lot of Dallas fans up that said the first game was a fluke.

3. Taylor's fumble recovery in 05 against the Eagles to seal the win and vault us to the playoffs.

Other memorable moments, Taylor's blocked field goal return to give the Redskins the win against Dallas at home in 06', Portis' first run as a Redskin, the 5 game win streak at the end of 05', the 4 game win streak at the end of 07'.

05 victory Monday night game will be in redskins lore forever. That was incredible, as i watched in between 9 Dallas fans in my living room....

Redskins- Lions game o7' season- complete victory for us i was in attendance awesome feeling walking out of the stadium

redskins bears game 07' Campbell goes down and Todd comes in and gets us a very , very needed victory..I also attended that game too with my bears loving wife. It was her Christmas present. She still wants a rebate for the bears loss what do u do... u know?

Re: 3 Best Memories in Gibbs II

The initial press conference anouncing the return of Joe Gibbs, and remembering his repeated proclimation: "The past don't buy you anything up here" I have to prove myself all over again. He proceded to bring cohesion to a football team, and to an ogganization that had lost it's way.

The distraught expression that engulfed his persona following the Game with the Buffalo Bills when he admitted he was not sure of a rule that prohibited him from calling back-to-back timeouts for fear of being penalized. Truly a low popint in his illusturous career.

How he kept his team focused and cohesive during one of the most difficult times in Redskin history, dealing with the death of Sean Taylor. I doubt there's a coach in the NFL who could have handled that situation with the grace and class that Gibbs did.

God bless you Joe, and may everything you touch turn to gold.

Re: 3 Best Memories in Gibbs II

1. Beating the Giants at home 12/24/05. Being at the stadium was electric..A td pass from portis to Cooley and Bombs from Brunell and even Ramsey to Moss!! We stomped them with momentum carried over from the week before from the Dallas game.. so that week sun-sun should be moment 1.

2. Back to 05 again with the Taylor fumble return for a td against Philly to send us to the playoffs. Ending a 6 yr playoff drought and having Gibbs be the leader just felt right.

3. Draft 06'. Heraing Gibbs call out Sean Salsibury on ESPN for saying if the skins made the playoffs he would walk from Bristol to DC. Gibbs wasnt having it..he got on and called out Salsibury and put him in his place! Nice to see Gibbs acting like fan like us for a couple minutes!!

Re: 3 Best Memories in Gibbs II

I loved every minute he was our coach,

I remember how i got chills and couldn't sleep when I heard he was coming back to DC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How he handled Ramsey and Brunell

How he handled Portis and Betts

How he handled the loss of ST21.

How he handled losing all of those close games, how many were there?????

Man, I hope Dan knows what he is doing....but i don't really think he does.

My fav moments too. And I'll add the way he handled Taylor's death. His guidance helped rally the team and I'm not sure anyone else could have done a better job.

Re: 3 Best Memories in Gibbs II

My top memory was the blocked kick, return by Taylor, game winning FG against Dallas. It's my favorite because I was there in the stands for it. It's the only game I've actually been to in the last five years, and I picked a hell of a one to see.

If it weren't for being there, my top memory would be the 14-13 comeback against Dallas.

My other memory would be making the playoffs this year by beating the hell out of Dallas (even if they did rest starters). It meant so much after what happened with ST. And regardless of Gibbs' record while he was here, it reminded me of what a great coach he still is. It was the high note we all needed to see him leave on.

AGREE...
To me....All the wins against Dallas top the list...especially the ones that cause the most pain for them

The fact that Gibbs' last regular season home game was a win against the Cowboys to get into the playoffs was very sweet indeed.

Re: 3 Best Memories in Gibbs II

1. Redskins 35-7 v. Dallas in 2005 (gets top billing because I actually was in attendance)

2. Redskins 27-6 v. Dallas in 2007 (closes improbable playoff run and, again, happened to be in attendance)

3. Redskins 14-13 v. Dallas in 2005 (Having watched the whole game again on DVD it really was really really crappy for about 55 minutes; actually stayed up and watched the thing thinking that the suffering would make the joy that much better later - just didn't know it would come that night. Woke up my neighbors after Santana Moss' 2nd TD - lived in an apartment then and they started banging on the wall).

Honorable Mention -

- Blocked kick v. Dallas in 2006, Taylor's TD v. Philly in 2005, and listening to pretty much the whole 2005 season via Sirius Radio since I was in SC and did not yet have a hardworking wife willing to pay for Sunday Ticket. Much different experience listening on radio exclusively and Sonny, Sam, and Larry sure made it seem like the Redskins should have won every game that year

Re: 3 Best Memories in Gibbs II

My all time favorite was that Dallas game with the block.

I remember Witten burned AA down the seam and was taunting him so badly it looked like he had blown another game and it was ugly.

What took place next was the best damn moment of my fan life besides the Playoff wins and superbowl of course. Taylor was so amazing man I only wish he took it all the way but the ending is just fine by me.
