PC Games
Inspired by the comments of Mheisig, I'm wondering what good pc games are out there? I've always been a console person, never getting into pc gaming at all. ( I can't imagine using a keyboard and mouse for gaming...) Still, I'd like to see what else is available. I will say that I have NO interest in Everquest, WoW or any other of that genre. Any recommendations?

Re: PC Games
I used to love starcraft back in the day. Probably the only game I really got hooked on the P.C.
I also used to play Counter-strike... back in the beta days. I don't really have time for computer games any more... but those two definitely were the most entertaining.

Re: PC Games
The problem with PC games is the stupid controller. You never know which one to use it is never universal and it always looks like you can launch the shuttle with the damn thing.

Re: PC Games
Be more specific, what type of things do you like? The PC gaming market is very deep. For instance, if I'm playing a racing game or madden -- console any day. However, gaming can be so much more complex on a PC. It WILL be frustrating if you don't have the card (or internet connection) to keep up with it in case of internet gaming.
If you're looking for a strategy game, I'm a fairly big fan of Sid Myers Civilization. Pretty intense game. As I've said in other threads, Im a fan of MMO's (WoW, etc, but these can be bad news if you have a life =p), warcraft 3 is still fun (the custom maps are where the fun comes from now, things such as defense of the ancients gets more play than the actual warcraft part). If you narrow down what genres you like, I could probably suggest something. Most games have some sort of demo, or if you know where to look a free copy (Ive done it before to see if I wanted to spend the cash on the game, but never leave them installed more than 2-3 days). If you're interested in trying WoW, send me a PM and I can give you a free account for (I THINK) a month for you to test it out. Edit: Also, if you're interested. Myth II is a great game -- and it's free. The myth series is what Bungie did before MS bought them out and they made halo. Considering it was released in 1998 and I'm still playing it today says something. By far the best game I've ever played in the depth and strategy. However, it's a bit old. The rights to the series were sold to Mumbo Jumbo who really destroyed myth 3 and they ended up giving the rights of it to the community. There's an online server run by the community too.

First you need to buy a really good graphics card along with extra RAM and perhaps a faster connection for online gaming. Then think about games.

Re: PC Games
Yeah the Civilization games are great too, but there something about Colonization thats been keeping me playing it since Windows 3.1. Maybe its the lame graphics or the fact that you can get it for less than 5 bucks.

Re: PC Games
I haven't done much PC gaming, but when I was gaming on my laptop, I loved playing Unreal Tournament. The game was quite easy to beat, but not one that you'd get tired of really fast. At least I didn't.

Re: PC Games
Oh, one more thing about PC gaming. The shooter games are much easier to navigate with a keyboard and mouse. It might seem kind of awkward at first, but once you get the hang of it, you won't want to use a controller.
