Javon Walker signs with the Raiders

ESPN - Source: Ex-Bronco Walker agrees to 6-year deal with Raiders - NFL

The insane deals continue:

The terms of the deal call for Walker to receive a six-year, $55 million contract that includes more than $16 million in guarantees and pays him roughly $27 million over the first three years of the deal.

Damn, that was quick. I didn't even think he was visiting with them until tomorrow.

So it's down to Hackett and Bryant Johnson then I suppose (to a lesser extent Drew Carter and Justin McCariens-a much lesser extent)

Thats more per year then floss-doss Randy Moss. Oh well, for a team like the Raiders to get players they have to pay a premnium.

Well for a guy that played 8 games last season, thats an awful big investment/risk.

To me thats just crazy money for the guy, but it is the Raiders.

So that leaves us a shot at two at this moment.....?

All those insane deals being given away - are Bryan Johnson and DJ Hackett expecting same thing? I wonder...

For the life of me I can't believe this crybaby got the same amount as Randy Moss. Moss is 5 times better than this guy. Unreal.

Re: Javon Walker signs with the Raiders

If they are expecting the same thing I really hope they find that elsewhere lol. This is a good deal for Walker but the Raiders might get burned on this, Walker's had injury issues and I have Broncos friends that say ever since the multiple knee injuries he hasn't been the same.

Precisely what I was thinking. Obviously they won't get Javon Walker money, but they will be looking for some pretty lucrative contracts. Neither is worth it. At this point I'd really rather draft someone and just hope for some decent production in the first year (or get lucky and get Dwayne Bowe type production) and develop him.

I'm starting to agree with this....especially if we get an additional 3rd round pick...no sense in pissing away #1 WR money for a #3 receiver in Hackett or Johnson

I'm w/you on that. I think it was smootsmack that said 6 yrs. 35 mil w/12 guaranteed is fair & realistic. I agree w/those #s, but I question whether either is truly worth it in relation to a draft pick.

I know that there's more certainty in production from a vet, but there's also the risk of Hackett not being healthy. I would almost rather go w/the hope of a draft pick & the low salary than signing a fa at this point.

Either way, I'll be happy in the offseason so long as we don't pay huge $ for anybody.

Re: Javon Walker signs with the Raiders

i hope that after this year the old opinion of the redskins finally changes. sure, weve made some bad moves in the past couple years, and some good ones. pretty much who HASNT?!

like i get sick that people still harp on 2000. it was EIGHT YEARS AGO people, get over it.

the raiders and 49ers are making quite a name for themselves anyway. we'll see how good they are next year.
