ocular migraine

So last night my vision started getting really wacky, almost like I had been staring at a bright light for too long, it started at the center of my vision and gradually moved to the peripheral of my vision. It really freaked me out, it went away after about 20 minutes. I talked to my Mom this morning and she's had the same thing before and was diagnosed with having an ocular migraine which I've never heard of before. Has anyone else had these??

Stop j/oing so much and you won't go blind. =)

I do suffer from migranes and when they are at their worst my vision is blurred. My vision also blurs badly after I do a really heavy set of weights at the gym. It is weird and scary!

Re: ocular migraine

Yeah, I get really bad headaches too (not sure if they're technically migraines though) and sometimes my vision will get blurry too.
The only thing is that when my eyesight does get blurred it tends to start in my peripheral vision and work it's way towards the center. That only happens with the worst of my headaches.

I will have times when I see all these little lights shooting all over the place but it goes away pretty quick. Its like I get a quick little firework show.

My sister gets these from time to time. She's a constant worrier. I can almost guarantee she'll mention her "white spots, no headache" symptoms just before an important event or if she's having a hard time keeping up with work. Stop stressing out over whatever it is that's bothering you.

Yeah after my vision cleared up I had a bit of a headache behind my eyes, nothing too bad though, I took some ibuprofen and I was good to go.

I'm not much of a worrier and I rarely stress over things. I'm probably the most laid back person I know so it wasn't stress related. I was tired after not sleeping well the past few nights and I had just worked out earlier. I'm thinking I was just really tired.

Re: ocular migraine

My eyes go all wacky sometimes, but it's never associated with a headache. Usually I get an aurora effect. It's like a ribbon of distorted light flashing in my peripheral vision. So annoying, but it will usually work itself out within 30 minutes or so. My eye doctor couldn't give me a solid reason why it happens.

Every now and then, one of my eyes will just involuntarily twitch back and forth really fast for about 2 seconds. Weird.

I've also had "floaters" (broken blood vessels behind your eye that cause you to see a spot in your vision). You can get those from rubbing your eyes too hard or violent sneezing.

Re: ocular migraine

Twitching in our eyes is a sign of stress.

Re: ocular migraine

had migraines since i was the age of 8.most of mine hurt like hell, and make me sick as a dog.a lot of mine are brought on by preservatives and caffeine.if you watch what you eat, most of them will vanish.chees, hot dogs, beer and hershey bars always set mine off.if they continue,i'd see a doctor.
