Non-Jason Taylor News (from Redskins Blog)

A few things stood out for me in this blog:

1) Springs is healthy and looks in great shape

2) Smoot is fine after yesterday's ankle issue.

3) JC sounds like he's about 50/50 hot & cold. To me at this point that's a good thing, it means his timing with the WRs is coming along. His knee is likely 100% and not effecting his throws. His errors are probably "read" errors (correctable).

4) Colt Brennan's release sounds a bit "Wuerfful-like". It sounds like he's put on some weight though.

I've about had it with all of the excuses about why JC is so freakin inconsistent... I just hope Zorn will see the writing on the wall and do the right thing before we have to dig ourselves out of a huge hole mid-season!

JLC also managed to write a beautiful article bitching about the front office again. If DS weekness is having to make big splashes JLC's weakness is having to trash him (Snyder) for petty reasons. And of course mine is bashing JLC.

The Immaculate Deception

There is a reason the media schlubs around here have a hard time believing a lot of what comes out of Vinny Cerrato's mouth, and a reason he has credibility issues. Yesterday was a prime example, though hardly unprecedented in these parts. Cerrato repeatedly denied the team was interested in Jason Taylor to the local media (via text, phone call, and then in front of the camera at a press conference), from about 2 pm right up until he tripped over his own feet entering the media room to announce the trade.

I'm not to worried about Vinny and JLC right about now since we've got some football to talk about. I can see, though, how the media has a little bit of distrust for the skins FO. A simple no comment would be the better response. This is nothing new as i don't believe alot of what comes from Vinny. He is a likeable guy though, he just needs to go to a Public Relations 101 basic learning class. He's not the first FO guy to bend the truth a little.

Kosar had a strange throw as well but it worked. Not that CB is going to have a career like Bernie Kosar. Zorn will decide whether he wants to change that delivery.

Springs is a worker. I would have been suprised if he showed up in bad shape.

I just don't get why the media gets surprised when a FO member does not give them the answers they want. So what if he said no comment (which is as good as saying yes) or yes we are negotiating a trade if another team was looking at JT they may have derailed us from getting him. So thumbs up to VC for throwing off the media.

And I thought due to potential charges of tampering Vinny was well within his rights to say they weren't interested at that time. That JLC article just seems like sour grapes.

The other thing I don't get, why does the media think they have any influence over what Vinny Cerrato does?

So he lied to you, and you didn't like it. Is he supposed to care? Why? What are you going to do, write a story about how he's a liar liar pants on fire? Toilet paper the trees in his front yard? Gimme a break.

The right thing is to coach him up the best they can and commit to him as the starter for the entire season... unless he's a total disaster which I simply don't see happening.

They talked about this on WP Live yesterday on Comcast and general consensus is that it's a reporter thing and fans don't really give two craps about the FO lying to the media.. JLC was being a whiny little bitch about it.. There was no need to blog that other than to grind a personal ax..

Exactly. Why does JLC think he has some right to know what the front office is thinking in regards to personnel decisions? Why would Vinny want other teams to know that the Redskins were thinking about acquiring Taylor, thereby potentially entering into a bidding war or getting slapped with tampering charges? Granted, Vinny could have responded to inquiries with "no comment," but that's tantamount to saying, "I absolutely confirm the validity of these rumors."

Either JLC (1) realizes that front offices' engage in subterfuge, deception, and outright lies; or (2) he is an idiot for believing that Vinny should be absolutely candid with the press. In any event, JLC seems like he has some serious personal beef with this front office. He never wastes an opportunity to blast the team. He might think he is just calling them like he sees them and the rest of us are dumb sheep, but I tend to think he is oftentimes unprofessional insofar as he is letting his personal biases color his perception of front office moves.

JC's not happy with his own performance in practice, he said it himself... he let's the pressure get to him too much and over thinks. I hope you are right and he'll work out of it... but if not then the right thing to do is pull the plug before we are needing 6 straights wins to make the playoffs....
