Who will win the punter battle?

Gotta say right now I'm leaning towards Frosty holding on to his job.

Re: Who will win the punter battle?

frost has outplayed brooks, but if there has to be a threat of losing his job for him to perform to the standards they expect, he probably won't hold the job. I don't think they'll toss brooks aside quite yet.

Watching Frost punt is painful. I would rather go with an unproven punter with potential than an established veteran with a track-record of inconsistency. I hope Brooks seals the starting position tonight.

Re: Who will win the punter battle?

It makes more sense to choose Brooks. He's younger and he's going to be a VERY good punter, I mean for him ot even be competing with Frost yet shouldsay something. Frost has also had a few more chaces to kick than Brooks.

Re: Who will win the punter battle?

I voted for Brooks, I think they ought to go with Brooks, but since they haven't cut Frost yet I would think that someone on the staff is making the argument to keep him. Is anyone else tired of hearing about the punter holding the ball for Suisham, or is it really important enough of an issue to save Frost's job?

Re: Who will win the punter battle?

My guess is Brooks. To spend a draft pick on a punter tells me that it's his job to lose
tonight.

Forst isn't getting paid top dollar and he has experience...if Books hasn't beaten him out by now he's a goner.

Frost always plays well in pre-season, then inconsistent in the regular season. Go with the Ray Guy Award winner.

Gotta go w/brooks, though it's not a decision that should make or break us either way.

Re: Who will win the punter battle?

I think Brooks just b/c he'll be cheaper and they've got something invested. Of course, as long as they think he and Frost are pretty close.

Watch us cut Brooks and see him land in Dallas where he can torture us with 50 yard, 5 second hang time boomers for the next decade. Keeping Brooks is a no brainer to me. Frost hits one big punt out of the end zone during a pre-season game, and people are lobbying for him as if he's suddenly clutch. Take a look at this rocket Brooks hit out of his end zone, in a real game, at GA Tech last year:

YouTube - Durant Brooks 76 yard Punt

There probably aren't more than 5 punters in the entire NFL with the leg strength to do that.
