Pissing Match between the Post and the Redskins

I'm not sure how many people saw the article in the Washington Post about the controversy with the lower bowl seats added to FedEx Field (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...2004Aug25.html), but the Redskins did a rebuttal on their official website.. (http://www.redskins.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=3141)

The funniest dig to me was, "Surprisingly, The Washington Post newspaper is in fact the single-largest general admission ticket holder at FedExField, with more than 200 prime lower bowl seats under one discreet account.

General admission seats are intended for the individual fan. Each account is limited to six seats, and there are more than 100,000 households on the wait list hoping to purchase general admission seats.

"Since general admission is designed to benefit the individual fan, not major corporations, having secretly garnered more than 200 of the best lower bowl seats, isn't it time for the Washington Post to recognize the needs of the individual fan?" said Mitch Gershman, senior vice president in charge of the team's ticket office."

Gotta love a pre-season war with the media..

The only thing goog about the Washington post is the Reskins and Maryland B-ball. After that the far left paper is only good to put under the puppy!

Let me guess.... you think the Washington Times is a better paper? Or do you just like their right wing slant better? I wouldn't even subject my puppy to crapping on the Washington Times...it is a terrible newspaper.
You don't really appreciate how great the Washington Post is until you move away from Washington D.C. area. Let me tell you, what I have missed the most besides my Skins, is reading the Washington Post every morning.
Tom Knott and the rest of those amateurs at the Washington Times sports page are the worst. I particularly hate it when Tom Knott tries to be funny like Tony Kornheiser. He fails miserably
The Washington Post is one of the most respected papers in the country and the world. You might be too young to remember Watergate.

Well, somebody at Redskin Park pissed somebody off at the Post and then they pissed off Danny Boy......it's getting interesting, I bet Danny Boy wins this one.

REMINDER to both parties....."Better to be pissed off than pissed on"

First off boy I said nothing about the The Times being better! And yes it is like the Times in NY as far left as one can get! I live out here in NorCal and we have some papers out here even with thier left slant that are as good as the Post. That's not saying much. As for not subjecting your Dog to the Post I hear you. I feel I woudn't subject my kids to the Post because they don't need to be told what to think! As for remembering Watergate I lived just miles away when it all went down and remember it well. So lecture someone else!

Frankly I prefer to teach my puppies to crap outside and not crap on either one of the papers I read. I like stories from both because they cover my favorite team. Left or right does not matter as I am trying to be informed as much as possible and I don't need a newspaper telling me what to believe or think. Bottom line is Danny could have done things quietly behind the scenes and has choosen to go after the post publicly. This is wrong but will lead to a more honest factual reporting by the post. The last guy they had covering was terrible. He cut and paste each of his articles from previous articles he had written. Really bad writting in my opionion.

Being an out of town Skin's fan, I appreciate the Redskin coverage provided by the post and I like to read Kornheiser and Wilbon too...................

Apparently the Post got the Ryan Clark information from the Associated Press News Wire. Still that's no excuse. First rule of journalism Always Check Your Sources

"Correction to This Article
The print edition of this story erroneously reported that Washington Redskins would be releasing defensive back Ryan Clark. The Redskins said Monday that they did not plan to release the defensive back. This version has been corrected to reflect that information. "

the problem is over the last 40 years media has put a much bigger emphasis on reporting things FIRST, and not reporting them correctly. This happens all the time, and I hate it.

the media also has problems explaining things like technology, since many columnists are NOT tech experts, they misunderstand or poorly explain what they write about, or copy talking points (even illogical ones) from parties with strong biases for or against the subject at hand.

Oh boy oh boy!!! I hope the post goes at it full time against Swanson. Truth be told, Danny boy has done good things and bad things for the team's product. He does, however, seem to have a bunch of yes men in his PR department. I think these do more harm than good to the team and hope that this little dust-up makes Danny realize that, little napoleon that he may be, honesty and integrity go a longgggg way to improving profits.

Yes, he makes his millions of the team but I think there would be more to be made if he could get on the media's good side (If everybody starts liking him and talking up the Skins, more fair weather fans buy stuff). Conversely, Swanson's tactics will ensure that the only way Danny and the Skins get press is when the team screws up.

Essentially, I just hate "yes" men and millionares who are so insecure as to need them.
