Week 3 Positives

First off, the NFC East has remained unbeaten outside of our division. How can this not be the toughest division in the league? Now the weekly top five positve things to come from the game.

Greg Blache - In back to back weeks he has come up with a gameplan to shut down a high-powered offense. One play over 20 yards all game? 17 points all game? Two turnovers against a team who didn't have any through the first 2 games? Going on a limb here, Blache is better than Williams. I was frustrated watching Edge gash us, but Blache proved that he knew more than the fans by letting them run and not caring.

Shawn Springs - Held Boldin to two catches for 11 yards (Boldin's TD came on the rare play that Smoot was on him). He played physically against one of the best in the league while giving up height and weight. If he plays like this he won't get picks because QB's won't throw it when he is blanketing that tight. Also, he played tremendously on the punt coverage team.

Rocky McIntosh/ Carlos Rogers - Both had good stat lines but more impressive is how they have completed their comebacks from horrible knee injuries from last year. It's good to see them each contribute to a TO in the same game.

Jason Campbell - 22-30 for 193 yards, 2 TD's and most importantly, no ints. He isn't forcing anything and is finding second and third options. Add in his two rushing first downs and this was one of his most complete games. He seems to feed off the crowd and exudes the confidence that is so important in a QB.

FedEx Field - 2-0 at home feels good but the "we want dallas" chant at the end is nice. It's Dallas week guys and we're 2-1. I think the noise frustrated Warner all game and energized the team. We definitely have a home field advantage again. Nice!

I'm starting to think that Zorn's tough love has lit a fire under our guys and I like it very much. Both JC and Rogers have stepped up and I can see them trying, learning, and changing. I like what I see, and I'm becoming more impressed with Zorn with each passing game. I don't want to jinx it, so I'm not going to praise them any more than they deserve, but..... WE WANT DALLAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Golston: he continues to play his ass off, he's really impressed me this year. He's developed a nice swim move to go along with that high motor.

I liked the fact that JC pulled down the ball a few times to run for nice gains. In the first two games he had several time where he could have run for the first down but did not. You mentioned the stadium noise and in the 2nd qtr the fans went dead along with the play from our O and the announcers on TV also brought this up.

Good point. I think as he's settling into this offense we're seeing his decision making speeding up. I'm honestly surprised at how quickly he seems to be progressing.

I agree, its impressive how he's just improving from week to week. Any continuity shown this week against Dallas is a major step forward.

I was impressed with Jim Zorn's play calling. He showed multiple formations in predictable situations. A prime example was the four wide reciever set on goal line and the touchdown run by Portis. Arizona's defense was stacked to the right and Portis ran left to the mismatch. That play was created by formation. The wide receiver reverse to Devon Thomas was set up perfectly. Typically wide receiver reverses take time to develop, this was more of a misdirection and fast pace. I loved it. The wide receiver option pass by Antwaan Randle El was also nice. And lastly the would be touchdown pass to Devon Thomas. I've never seen a professional receiver so wide open. I still maintain that Heyer got a bad call that brought that touchdown back.

More positives:

No TOs by JC--it won't last, but he's fixed one of the biggest problems in his game. And when I say it won't last, I just mean he will get picked or fumble some time here--all QBs do. It's just that it hasn't been the disturbing constant it was.

Landry continues to grow. And he was good already!

O-line coming together. Considering how they looked in preseason at times, this is a HUGE deal. Big tests coming up, however.

Play calling by Zorn. Properly aggressive, but doesn't give up on the run. Excellent half time adjustments, particularly in game 3. Great progress on red zone offense. Excellent distribution of the ball to all the play makers--one of the big challenges in this offense. Great play calls to ice the last two games. God, does it feel good to kneel out the game as opposed to JGs 3 runs and a punt to put the D back on the field?

Remember folks, this is a work in progress. We've got a tough schedule coming up, no doubt. There will be steps backwards. But so far, the progress is encouraging.

How about Devin Thomas? Even if it was a small contribution and had some offensive interference calls against him, he's slowly getting into the mix of the games and it won't be long before he becomes a factor.

I agree with everything you said Ryp AND I am definitely a big fan of Zorn. I think we struck gold here.

I'm getting more and more impressed by Zorn's playcalling each week. Remember guys, this is his first year at calling the plays, let alone being a head coach. So far, Zorn has passed with flying colors.

I'm also extremely impressed by Rocky and Carlos. Especially Carlos. Man...it's like day and night! I expect Rogers to get a few picks for TDs this year! Everything is coming together and while the next couple of weeks are going to be huge tests, I can't help but to start having that sense of confidence in this team that I haven't had since Gibbs' first tour of duty as head coach. Yes, I realize that we could very well have a bad game in Dallas and all the boo birds will come in and quack & cackle around, but I believe this team is on it's way up and there isn't anything to stop that from happening except for the players themselves.

Rogers seems to play closer to the line of scrimmage under Bache than he did under Williams. Or is this just my imagination?

Rocky had a good game Sunday and appears to be back where he left off before his injury.
