not fair weather
I have been checking out this website for a couple of months now, and I finally decided to register. I was a little apprehensive, because I am a new Skins fan. I hate the term "band wagon", and I am anything but a band wagon fan. I have followed pro and college football my whole life, and have cheered for a few different teams in my time. I am not a fair weather kind of fan. How could a fan of the game of football not love this coaching staff? How could a fan of sports not respect the diehard Skins fans that are there rooting for their team win or lose? I don't expect to be welcomed with open arms, but hopefully over time...it will become apparent I am a skins fan and I am so excited about watching every game and bleeding the maroon and gold. I have been so impressed with the information available on this sight, as well as the intelligent opinion posts. Hopefully, I can join into the fray adding my two cents. I can't wait for the season to start. It really feels like this team could be something special. I look forward to hearing more from all of you. What a great site! Thanks for listening to my rant.

Glad you finally saw the light. I dont think you will be too disappointed, although at times it has been rough, but lets hope those days are over for a while. Just make sure you dont jump off the wagon when things get rough. I have be on the wagon for about 30 years and almost have jumped off a couple of times. Another thing if you are going to be a Redskins fan you have to know their colors. It is Burgandy (not that there is a whole lot of diference) and Gold, not Maroon. Welcome aboard!!!

Stay afloat! Hang in there, Gibbs will eventually bring this thing back to the glory days.
Welcome aboard!

reasons
First and foremost, thanks for the various welcomes. I will remember burgundy not maroon. Second, I am no spy for the cowboys. I don't know if there is a team I hate worst than the cowboys, unless it is the eagles. I have moved around the country quite a bit and would usually root for the local team....(Bears, Saints). Even in Chicago, I never saw the passion for the team that I have seen at Redskins games. (I haven't been to the new Fed Ex stadium, yet). Joe Gibbs is one of the true class acts in the NFL, as is most of his staff. I have always rooted for the Skins, but having coach Gibbs back (I also know a little about Coach Blache from Chicago...darn good coach and he is hilarious...just wait til he gets going....) really said to me they wanted to win. No offense to Spurrier fans, but what a waste of a couple of years he was. I have two trips planned to see games this year and I can't wait to truly have a team that I put my heart into. Don't worry, I can handle the ups and downs. I just love a team that shows heart and I think we got a pretty good bunch of guys here. Thanks again...

LOL... don't mind the "band wagoneers". Especially Ade's fan club. He's just bitter that our boy might not make it past the final cuts.
And welcome to the board! You're right... we have the most obnoxio... er, I mean dedicated fans in the NFL! I've been a fan since 1975 or so... gotta take the downs with the ups. And I must say you have great attitude. Anyone who hates the Cowrhoids will fit in just fine!

Great to have you among us, newskinfan!
My brother lived in New Orleans for a while, and he's also moved around the country quite a bit. Although he grew up a Redskins fan, he became a "new" fan of the Saints and Titans when he lived in New Orleans and Tennessee, respectively. Now he's back in Virginia, so he's a bit of a "new" Skins fan himself, kind of like how Gibbs is the "new"/old coach. We welcome all kinds of Skins fans on this site, and I'm sure you'll find that visiting this site regularly will enhance your understanding and appreciation of what it means to be a true Redskins fan-- "the best bloody fans in the world!" |

I dont know if becoming a redskins fan now is bandwagoning, they have been one of the most hated teams in the nfl the last few years...
