season matchups

So here is my first real post....

Looking at the quarterbacks in the NFC east. I can't help but feel confident about our matchups against the Cowgirls and Giants. Williams defense seems in a position to tee off on the slower veterans. Philly seems like a tough all around team, but I think our aggressive style will be great against the aging veterans on the other teams. I only hope Taylor doesn't get burnt by the experience of these quarterbacks and their ability to look off safeties. For our matchups against the NFC North, I think Blache (with his experience as D-coordinator for the Bears for so long)and Williams will have some great game plans on how to stop what I feel is an overrated division. This season should be awesome.

Welcome to TWP.
In my opinion, it is very difficult to judge the match ups against these teams. In the last couple of years it has seemed like any team can beat any team on any given week.
Plus preseason is not indicitative of how teams will play in the regular season. As much as I hate the Cowboys and Giants, I do not feel as confident as you. The Dallas defense looked very good against Tennessee Titans and MVP QB Steve McNair. Dallas' pass rush from their front 4 looked good, something we still have problems with. I hope we blow out everyone, but don't be dissapointed if we have some growing pains from the players learning the new offense and defensive systems.
By mid-season I think the team will be hitting on all cylinders. But early on, expect SOME rough patches.

Like Joe Gibbs himself said this week:
"This team can beat anybody, but at the same time, can be beaten by anybody too."

I think that the talent is there, it just now comes down to the players grasping the schemes, preparing, and executing on game day. If the players have the fire in them, this team could be very dangerous.

I think that dallas will be the stronger of those two teams. They have more talent than new york.

I agree with Defense....it will be a struggle early on, but we should be able to turn it up about the midway point for a serious run at the playoffs.

The defense is always the last thing to kick in for the Redskins. What I see as a positive sign is from one player. Sean Taylor is Superman. Able to intercept small cowboys, eagles and giants QB passes with a single bound. So, look up in the sky. It's a bird, it's a plane, no it's a playoff berth. We not only have talent. But young talent that can be here a long time if we produce results. Boy, I can't wait until Sept.12!

What makes me very optimistic and confident in this year as oppose to last year is that the Giants, Eagles and Cowboys failed to replace their big players with big players. Every player on the Giants d-line was cut except Strahan. The Giants first string o-line looks like a third string. Warner is a sitting duck and he will not be able to take a serious beating the entire season. Shockey's hurt and Tiki and Dayne are pathetic. As for Philly,no running game since Duce and I think Sean Taylor, Fred Smoot, and Sean Springs will handle T.O.
For the Cowboys, please bring it on!

We play Jersey/A week 3 we're going to crush them off.. Dallas is a whole other story Gibbs record against Parcells coupled with our inability, most of the time, to beat Dallas makes it tough to predict wins against them.

I agree with you that these three teams have taken Free agent losses that they have not replaced well. However we have some holes (question marks) at certain positions just like these three teams. Most notably:

1) if MLB Barrow can not play, Pierce has very little experience at MLB and has some big shoes to fill.

2) Our strong saftey position is still very clouded. Bowen has looked terrible this preseason and did not look good last year either. A. Lott has had very limited time at strong safety this preseason, and has looked ok. Some good -some bad, his coverage is good, but his run support might be an issue. Good article about Lott:

3) The defensive tackle position opposite Griffen has not yet been settled. I think it will be Salavea, but....? Brandon Noble has made an impressive recovery from injury, but his play has been average. Ron Warner is the dark horse in this competition.

4) Jansen's injury is a big blow. Hopefully Kenyata can do a good job the entire year.

5) LT Samuels ankle injury is coming at a bad time. Hopefully he will be fine.

6) We REALLY need Phillip Daniels to be healthy this year. But he has been injured all preseason.

It's hard to evaluate teams during the preseason, while the Cryboys did have a good showing against Tennessee, the Titan's starting CBs weren't playing, and that O line will have to protect a very IMMOBILE Vinny.....and the Cryboy backup is unproven having played BASEBALL....also living in enemy territory, I've heard Parcells is not happy with his defense....free agent DE Wiley has been unimpressive and he's trying out Greg Ellis on the left side. Woodson is out so their secondary is a concern..........
The Giants have a terrible O Line which does not bode well for Warner and eventually Eli........the Gint secondary has been disappointing and defense as a whole hasn't looked good........but it's early. Eagles maybe overrated and can Kearse stay healthy........Redskins have Cryboys and Gints early so time to get a jump in the division............

I have found it a waste of time to try to pick a winner between the cowgirls and the skins. It is always a crazy game and impossible to predict.
I will however say we will sweep the giants and split the eagles.
