Is the NFC back on top?
For the last few years analyst have touted the AFC as by far the stronger conference and with good reason. Over this period it has regularly taken 10 wins to get in the playoffs while a few years ago the Giants made the playoffs at 8-8. This year the opposite seems to be true. So far the NFC is 10-8 against the AFC which only says so much but on top of that theres no Tom Brady led Patriots and the Colts are struggling with Peyton Manning trying to find his stride.
According to the ESPN Power Rankings 3 of the top 5 teams are from the NFC (East), conversly theres a 5-5 split in the top 10. Nevertheless to me it seems that the NFC is the tougher conference this year. I would like to make this a poll but until then what are your thoughts?

Re: Is the NFC back on top?
I'm not sure if the NFC as a whole is back, but the NFC Beast sure is. I'd be really surprised if the NFC Super Bowl team is not from the East.

Re: Is the NFC back on top?
i think the trend started last year... toward the midway point i noticed it (with the cheifs and broncos rebuilding, etc...) and its looking that way more so this year with indy and ne looking fallible, and the chargers living up to the norv turner standard of football...

Re: Is the NFC back on top?
I agree completely. The NFC as a whole is about what is has been for a few years. And yes, I would be extremely surprised if the superbowl NFC team is not from the east.

Re: Is the NFC back on top?
I do believe the NFC is back
The NFC is back. The NFC East is back. The Redskins are back. It looks like NE's age is finally catching up with them, a lot like KC once Herm took over or NYJ right after Martin left. Thats the one thing that worries me about our team and the age of some of our key players and postions, and how quickly things can change for a team due to age. and EE This year more so then ever, I am convinced that Norva is not fit to be a head coach. |

Re: Is the NFC back on top?
I would argue that along with the NFC East the South is looking pretty good this year. For example the Falcons while they struggle at time are always a tough opponent. The Buc's are playing pretty well and we all know about Carolina. The Saint's still need to find a Defense but they're still pretty tough.
The West in both conferences is a sham and I personally think the Bronco's are overrated due to their lack of Defense. I love the story of the Bills but I don't feel like they've really been tested yet. And on top of that I think the Patriots are very overrated at this point, and I feel that the coming weeks will show that.

Re: Is the NFC back on top?
The West lost it's best player on it's best team so now they don't have any true juggernaut. It remains to be seen if the East has an absolutely dominant team. If one of the NFC East teams goes something like 5-1 in the division then they will be the unquestioned favorites to win the Super Bowl.

Re: Is the NFC back on top?
The current SB Champ is from the NFC so I would say yes it is on top and has been on top. You can't get more top than beating the best team (an 18-0 team) from the other conference in the biggest game in football. I'm guessing the NFC SB team will probably be from the NFC East too.

Re: Is the NFC back on top?
The NFC is 10-8 against the AFC, with 4 of their losses being the NFC West against the AFC East. I think the tide has turned back to the NFC, and really think the NFC East will be in the SB for the next couple years, sorta like the 80's.

Re: Is the NFC back on top?
this year i think all the dominant teams are in the nfc,and 3 are in the nfc east.
the panthers are pretty good too, they don't seem to get much credit either.like i have said if the titans are the best in the afc,the nfc does'nt have much to worry about. |
