The official cut Torrence thread
Since we are cutting people.
We need to cut or bench Torrence. I'm tired of this guy. Every time I see this guy I think of the highlight of Moss catching a TD over his head. I know Moss is arguably the best receiver. But, I can't remember him doing anything positive. Ever. And as we all know he gave up the big play to the Rams rookie WR. If Smoot was it wouldn't have happened. I know its not all his fault but if he learns how to turn his head (a very basic skill most cb's in college posses) around then we might be complaining why we squeaked out a win to this horrendus team instead of losing to them. |

You can't blame this loss on Torrence. The guy has improved his play this year, he's definitely not a starter but is a decent backup. Everybody gets burned at sometime, are you going to cut all the players over mistakes made?

Did you see last season? Torrence gets burned a lot. The guy is a solid special teamer but line him up against a WR and you better close your eyes and cross your fingers. He's pretty much the Ade of the Skins this season.

Yes I did, but I have also seen him improve from last year. Would you rather have Tryon or Torrence play right now?

re: The official cut Torrence thread
I'd really like to know why Smoot wasn't out there...but Torrance has definitely improved his game from last year. A mental lapse is warrented here and there, but that was just piss poor timing on Torrance's part. However, that one play did not make or break the game.
I'd like to see what GTripp and Dillweed (postgameheroes.com) have to say about breaking down that play and see if there were any other breakdowns other than Torrance.

re: The official cut Torrence thread
i don't think they should cut him,but i do think there out to be a fireman on the sideline because he gets burned so often.i'd like to know why every db or safety seems to drop at least 2 ints every game? they must have dropped 3 or 4 yesterday.nobody's talking about it,but at least 1 could have changed the whole game around, especially the one that landry dropped after the skins scored that 1 st td.

re: The official cut Torrence thread
In the post game show, it was revealed that there was a missed assignment on the long pass. One of the safeties, most likely Horton, was supposed to blitz, that's why Torrence ended up in one on one coverage. If you recall, the St. Louis quarterback had a ton of time to pick out the receiver. Pressure in his face could have altered that play and most likely the game. Torrence has been average this season.

I'm all for it, where do I sign...Seriously though, I honestly can't think of any play(s) that he has made since he's been here. His career highlight was a pass that was deflected by his helment and intercepted by Rogers against Arizona. He is just a body on our defense

Torrence is no better than a nickle cornerback, but he has improved significantly in the past year. That was an unfortunate play where he got crossed up. In almost all cases, the WR wins the underthrown ball battle.

Re: The official cut Torrence thread
given the circumstances (bulger with time, being 1 on 1 with no help) i thought our 4th cb did a good job of covering avery on that play, avery just made a spectacular adjustment and catch.
just like arch deluxes last year and reed this year against witten, good coverage gets beat by a great throw and catch. it happens . . . . about turning your head to find the ball in the air while your running full speed next to a guy . . . that is a very important skill that separates the best cbs from the average ones, rogers is just starting to be able to do that this year and it is the single biggest improvement in his game and the reason why he deserves serious pro bowl consideration. years past he would turn his head last second not find the ball and end up making contact early and drawing a PI. this thread deserves to be over at extremeskins where extreme knee jerk reactions are the norm. go skins!! |
