Numbers Game

Here is something that I noticed this pre-season. Look at the top four first round wide receivers that are wearing #11. I wonder if they planned this or if they will be switching to 80's numbers after the cuts.

Larry Fitzgerald
Kellen Winslow II
Roy Williams
Reggie Williams

Anyone else notice this?

I guess there just aren't enough 80's for everyone on the team. I'ed noticed more tight ends wearing numbers in the 40's like Dallas Clark and our Chris Cooley. Cooley looks cool in #47. I would wear his jersey with pride. I also thought he looked like Riggo in the Atlanta game.

How long until they let RB, WR, DB wear single digit numbers.

Well, Cooley is an H-back in Gibbs' offense, so he's *sort of* a fullback, thus the 47.

I've been thinking about getting a Cooley jersey made. He was a beast on that one play Friday night. I was at the game and he sure looked bigger in person than he does on TV.

It is kind of strange that all of the rookies took 11, I did notice that during the preseaon. The league should just let people take what they want and not restrict people to the numbers in their position. I would LOVE to see LaVar roaming around beind the line of scrimage with 11 agian!!!

I think what it basically boils down to is so the refs can quickly and easily identify if a player is an eligible receiver.

I bet a lot of them change their number.

I think Fitzgerald will keep 11, he was number 1 in college so mabye he wnats to keep the 1 look.

I believe this year the league ok'd WR's and TE's wearing "odd" numbers like in the teens and #11 in Winslow's case.

I think cooley is going somewhere from that atlanta game... he had no hesitation to put his head down and bulldoze through defensive players... and he's big.
