Who's More Important: Moss or Samuels
This may fall into the category of pointless debate, but what the hell, these can be fun to think about.
With both Samuels and Moss questionable for tonight's game, hanging onto knee and hammy ailments respectively, who's absence would have a bigger impact on the Redskins? Feel free to consider just for this particular game or for an extended period.

Re: Who's More Important: Moss or Samuels
Good question. Speaking about tonight only, if I had to pick one I'd rather have Samuels in the lineup. I think if he's given the time Campbell should be able to dish it around effectively enough, but if he's pressured consistently from the blindside it's not going to matter much who's playing WR.

Re: Who's More Important: Moss or Samuels
For me, it's kind of a catch-22. It's tough to get the ball to Moss if Campbell doesn't have time and the passing game suffers if Moss isn't drawing double coverage.
That being said, if I'm forced to pick one for tonight, I'd say Samuels. While Moss is amazing, there are other receivers who have to step up.

Re: Who's More Important: Moss or Samuels
Short term Moss, long term Samuels.
You can scheme blocking for at least one week. After that you need a solid presence at left tackle so that someone doesn't scheme your scheme. If Moss was out for one night, it would greatly hurt the way that we move the ball through the air. After a couple of weeks however, we would find a way to get the ball into the hands of other playmakers. |

Re: Who's More Important: Moss or Samuels
Last year Bugle did a good job at getting players ready when coming in for injured players. With that said we have a back up for Samuals but we don't for Moss.

Re: Who's More Important: Moss or Samuels
over the course of a season, i'd say samuel's contribution is more key. but in a single game, i think moss' presence is missed more.
the lack of a deep threat is huge.

Re: Who's More Important: Moss or Samuels
The answer is Samuels. Without Moss, the deep pass leaves the offense, but that can be overcome. Without Samuels, the deep pass leaves the offense, as well as running the ball to the left, and also converting on third downs.

Re: Who's More Important: Moss or Samuels
Tonight, against this defense, I'd rather have Samuels. We're gonna need to run the ball. Not Heyers strongest point. Plus Jason has other receivers to throw to if he's not on his back. Maybe if the burden was put on Thomas he would step up. Hopefully they can both give it their best shot with the bye coming up.

Re: Who's More Important: Moss or Samuels
good question. i say Samuels. without time to throw, Jerry Rice could line up tonight, and be a non factor

But do you really lose that much in pass protection with Heyer? Samuels is better, no doubt. But I can't use just the Detroit game to judge Heyer at LT. He's done a real good job at times when pass blocking, albeit from the right side most of the time. I guess I'm saying you take a step down from Samuels to Heyer in pass protection, but I don't think you develop a complete weak link there. So I don't think the deep pass automatically goes bye bye with Samuels out. But I think losing the success in running to the left that all by itself makes Samuels more important than Moss. We friggin gut teams when we run left, it's how Portis has gotten most of his yardage (which leads the friggin league). Tonight, I think a Samuels absence would CRUSH us (their pass rush is insane and their run D is already good enough with Heyer's ineptitude there to aid them). Over the long haul, Samuels's absence would hurt more than Moss, but only slightly.

Tonight, we need to pressure Big Ben, and we have other guys to be weapons for Campell, so I'd say samuels.
