Re: 2009 Offensive/Defensive Lineman
Free Agency
Stacy Andrews, Jordan Gross, and Marc Colombo should all be considered when free agency roles around. I would be inclined to consider Marc Tauscher but he's only one year younger then Jansen and thats definitely not something we need. Vernon Carey would also be desireable but I don't see Miami letting him get away. On defense I think we should consider Julius Peppers and Terrell Suggs as potential Defensive Ends with Peppers getting top priority. Not only is he productive but he's big enough to play the left side of course we'll need to find a DT to help get a push up the middle and after Sheriffs little bio about Haynesworth I'm a little less eager to sign him. Unfortunately outside of Jonathan Babineaux theres very little in the way of Free Agent Defensive Tackles. Draft Since Free Agency is more likely to produce a quality free agent OL rather then the DT the team so desperately needs then chances are the draft will be a place the team looks to break their streak of ignoring the guys in the trenches on draft day. When big space eating DT's come to mind Terrance Cody pops in pretty fast. Of course according to draft grades theres a few more guys that could be available but chances are Cody is the best fit for what the team needs. Of course Michael Johnson of Georgia Tech is another intriguing prospect considering his raw talent but I keep getting the feeling that he'll go a lot higher then the mid first round range where the Redskins will be picking. Of course then again he could end up having a pre draft process similar to Mathias Kimanuka (SP?) save the great college career. In terms of first round offensive lineman few selections would please as much as if the team got there hands on Michael Oher of Ole Miss. A huge Tackle that at one point was considered a top 5 talent. To be honest he reminds me of a slightly smaller version of the Eagles Shawn Andrews. Either way he would be a great prospect to replace Jon Jansen though I still say the team might be better off finding out weather or not Jansen can play LG.

Oher would be nice and so should Aaron Curry. Both would be excellent additions to our team.

Re: 2009 Offensive/Defensive Lineman
I think AQ shipley would be a nice addition to our Offensive line. He is a center for PSU and may be able to play guard.
Also, the OT from Alabama will be gone when we pick. |

Re: 2009 Offensive/Defensive Lineman
offensive line talent is deep deep deep in this years draft and russel okung out of oregon state is a great pick up after the 3rd round.......he will start for someone and he is underated so might be able to get him after the 3rd round......this means maybe some first round talent on our dline.........jerry- ole miss, raji-bc, and marks-aub head my list and they are all DTs i think end is very shallow this year and all the talent will be gone by time we pick......we also are set there in my opinion. but adding a DT is logical unless you can get a guy like maleluga or laurenitis.....but we can get comparable lbs later(cushing!!!!!)

Re: 2009 Offensive/Defensive Lineman
Spend early picks on DL. Oline is one of the positions you can consistently get quality starters in the later rounds. Take the best DL on the board unless there is a superstar on the board at another position. However, with Zorn coaching this team, I can see us going offense so he can get his system in place, I expect quite a bit of turnover over the next two or so seasons.

Re: 2009 Offensive/Defensive Lineman
depending on our draft pick situation... we need a big 10 OG, SEC or Big 12 OT, and a 5th round SEC DT...

Re: 2009 Offensive/Defensive Lineman
I still like Alex Mack out of California. Could probably start at center or guard in his first year and, barring injury, could be a pro bowl caliber player for many years. Player Bio: Alex Mack :: Football

Re: 2009 Offensive/Defensive Lineman
I would love for Antoine Caldwell to be a Redskin. He is a All-SEC center plays hard and always gives it 110%. Plus we are from the same hometown and went to high school with him and his brothers. Tarvaris Jackson is also from Montgomery, AL too but he played for the rival school.

Re: 2009 Offensive/Defensive Lineman
If we could get Eugene Monroe OT out of Virginia in the first and have Alex Mack center-guard a projected 2nd to 3rd rounder fall to us in the 3rd, I would be happy with our draft. There are a few defensive guys I would like to get on our defense but I think we can win next year with the D we have. Being a defensive type of guy, I would love a Michael Johnson or a big defensive tackle, but protecting JC is a priority if we're going to get the offense where we want it to be. Maybe hit the defensive side of the ball in free agency.
