Jerry Gray To Interview For Detroit

ComCast is reporting that Jerry Gray will interview for the Detroit Lions vacant head coaching position and various defensive coordinator positions around the league. We may be losing a guy who could very well be an excellent defensive coordinator. Your thoughts?

Re: Jerry Gray To Interview For Detroit

If he doesn't get the Detroit job, he should be named our new DC instead of Blache. I'm sorry, but how many 4th quarter collapses did we have during the 2nd half of the season. Blache should retire and we need a young innovative DC. If he leaves for another teams DC position I would consider that another blunder on our FO.

He's a brave soul if he takes on that job.

Hopefully we can retain him, maybe give him a snazzy new title if needed.

Yeah I'd like to keep Gray. He's been good as our secondary coach, but if he would like to move onto bigger (not necessarily better) things than more power to him.

If Blache was to retire, I think Gray would take over as DC for sure. I hope Danny opens up the wallet and keeps him around. He's a damn good coach.

Re: Jerry Gray To Interview For Detroit

With our secondary being the strength of our team this year, I would hope Snyder will find a way to retain him. The talk of him leaving and maybe trading Rogers doesn't sit to well with me. I would love to see this same outfit back together next year with a good pass rush which we will hopefully address either through the draft or free agency. Nobody knows how long Blache wants to stay and it would be nice to have this guy "in house" when Blache decides to retire.

I like Gray. Even to the point where I would have felt comfortable with him as our D-Coordinator this year. However if I'm a Detroit fan I don't want to hire another position coach even if he was a coordinator prior to his current position. Still he would make a great D-Coordinator if they could get him in that Capacity.

If they hire Jerry.............Don't they owe us a draft pick or other form of compensation? Because he is still under contract?

Anyways, if he does go then I wish him the best. I would like to keep him, but if somebody has found a bigger and better job somewhere.............okay a bigger job somewhere then I wish him the best at it!

Good for him, bad for us. I don't think he's going to get the head coaching gig there, they need a bigger name/personality to establish their program but he's a great coach.

Yes, agree. He was a DC in Buffalo under GW.

Re: Jerry Gray To Interview For Detroit

Maybe we can make him "DDC" (designated defensive coord) when Blache retires? Similar to the deal when Holmgren retired.

I was trying to avoid the talks of him being a fluff or minority candidate. I'd love to retain him no doubt. I guess it depends who else Detroit can get to listen.
