Canton Finalists Named
Nice to see Russ in the mix again.....just don't like his odds. He very much so deserves to be inducted into the Hall, would love to see him get his fair due.
Just don't know that I like the odds. Hope I'm wrong. CANTON FINALISTS NAMED Posted by Mike Florio on January 6, 2009, 9:36 p.m. The fifteen finalists for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame have been named. Four players in their first year of eligibility have made the cut — Bills defensive end Bruce Smith, Steelers cornerback Rod Woodson, Broncos/Ravens tight end Shannon Sharpe, and Vikings defensive John Randle. The other finalists are Steelers center Dermontti Dawson, Seahawks defensive tackle Cortez Kennedy, Vikings receiver Cris Carter, Bills receiver Andre Reed, Bears defensive end Richard Dent, Redskins guard Russ Grimm, Dolphins guard Bob Kuechenberg, Vikings guard Randall McDaniel, Chiefs linebacker Derrick Thomas, former Commissioner Paul Tagliabue, and Bills owner Ralph Wilson. Falcons defensive end Claude Humprhey and Cowboys receiver Bob Hayes are the Senior Committe finalists. A minimum of four and a maximum of seven men will be voted into the Hall of Fame at a selection meeting to be held on January 31, one day before Super Bowl XLIII.

Locks: Bruce Smith, Rod Woodson, Shannon Sharpe.
Outside of those 3 might as well flip a coin. |

Re: Canton Finalists Named
After putting two 'skins in last year, (one of which they had to be dragged into electing kicking and screaming) it's unlikely the committee will put any of them in this year unless they are a stone cold lock which Grimm is not or he would have been inducted already and sorry but I don't consider Bruce Smith a real Redskin...

Re: Canton Finalists Named
could you imagine Modell getting inducted? Modell in Canton in front of all those Browns fans. That'd be a sight to see

Re: Canton Finalists Named
As long as Carter doesn't get in, I'm happy.

Re: Canton Finalists Named
Andre Reed's stats are better than Art Monk's stats in every category. Interesting that Monk got in before Reed...
Art Modell belongs in the HoF before Tagliabue does. Modell was one of the people that made the NFL/AFL merger work; he agreed to transfer his franchise to the far less popular AFC. Modell was also VERY important in the business of getting national and local TV coverage for every team. The mayor of Cleveland was as much to blame for the Browns leaving for Baltimore as was Art Modell. Claude Humphrey and Bob Hayes would be worthy inductees too.
