Last NIghts Game, Talent & the Draft

I was really impressed with the level of talent in last nights game. Both teams are loaded with talent. There were alot of future NFL players in that game last night. I know Florida as usual will always have NFL talent, but i was really surprised/impressed by Oklahoma. Their DB's are big and fast. So are thier WR's. Of course their QB is talented. But what really impressed me was their offensive and defensive lines, they are very strong. They gave Florida a good game. If it wasn't for their multiple turnovers at key moments Oklahoma should have won.

I must admit that I fell asleep during the game. It didn't come on until 8:30PM EST.
What I did see was Duke Robinson comit a penalty that cost UO a score. I still think him and Loadholt should be considered for the draft. It also made me wonder if there are any Florida O-line men up for the draft?
Florida's quarterback was sick. When I woke back right after half-time he started to really tear things up. I'd thought to myself, "why can't our QB do that?" Jason's not built like that though and they're two different types of QBs. But just imagine . . . .

Just the opposite for me, I was not overly impressed with either team. Oklahoma wins 3 of 5, but not last night when it counted. Without a doubt, there was NFL talent on the field but just a much talent in the Rose or Fiesta.

When the time comes, I would love to get Tebow (and his woman). Not sure what we would do with him, but the kid is a gamer! JUST KNOWS how to win!

Well, Florida is my school, and the Gators are nearly as big a passion for me as the Redskins. Brandon Spikes is a leader and a total beast. No guarantee he'll go pro, but he should. A total monster who can play inside or out, can rush the passer, and has great hands and speed (returned 3 INTs for TDs this year).

As far as Tebow, I think he'll go back to school. He doesn't want to be an H-back, LB, or TE, and that's what he's projected as right now. He wants to play QB. I heard both McShay and Kiper today say that he'd be better off going back to school and polish up his QB skills. As far as leadership and intangibles, there may be no better player at any level in any sport right now. Seriously. The man can just will a victory.

I don't care how many pass catchers we have, Percy Harvin would be a nasty addition. He's 5-11 200 lbs, benches over 400lbs and runs a 4.3. He's a tougher Reggie Bush, and can easily line up at wideout or RB. Don't get me started on my Gators. I'll gush for hours.

As far as the other guys, I'd take Duke Robinson or Loadholt on the Redskins in a heartbeat.

I liked the DT for Oklahoma, Gerald McCoy. He seemed like he was getting great penetration all game. Brandon Spikes and Percy Harvin I would also like, but I feel DT is more of a need.

It would certainly stir up some sh.., both here on the wp & w/fans & media peops in general, if we selected a wr. I can hear the comparisons to M. Millen now. However, see JLC's latest position review on the rb's. He says the coaches tell him privately they want a home run hitter that can break the big play. Funny to say that even at his age (27?), CP is no longer that guy, though he was when he got here in 04.

Drafting Harvin would be a way to get a Bush type guy that could line up in several places & return punts, something we need badly IMO!

Harvin is from Richmond if I'm correct isn't he? So he's local & that would add to his appeal for fans & Danny, who loves any angle he can market. While I'm in total agreement w/the many here (and media) who are hoping for O & D line help, as well as OLB, if they're able to sign a starting OT in free agency (sounds tough given the cap status), I think Harvin would be a good pick if he was there at 13. He would have to return punts right away though.

He's from Virginia Beach, so relatively local. I would LOVE to have Harvin. He's a threat running, receiving, and returning. But we need OL help too badly to use our 13th pick on him. Now, if we can trade that 13th pick for two late 1st round picks, I'd wouldn't oppose taking Percy (if he's still there) and a lineman...

On a number of draft sites, Harvin is currently projected 3rd or 4th round talent.

Duke Robinson's performance in the gam might have dropped his stock a little, which would help us. I really want to trade down and pick up more picks.

If Harvin lasts until the 3rd or 4th round I'll be totally stunned. I'd love to see a link to that. Right now Scouts Inc. has Harvin projected at #29 overall, making him a 1st rounder...

Urban Meyer never saw D. Green. As for Harvin's prospects, I don't know that I'd touch a Gator WR, even one as talented as Harvin. Florida, with both Spurrier's and Meyer's spread offenses, has been NOTORIOUSLY poor at transitioning wide receivers to the pro game. They've had plenty of WRs grade out well at the NFL Combine, but put on the pads and those players have done next to nothing in the NFL. Same can be said for Gator QBs. Playing the spread offense is great for monster stats and wins at the college level, but does little to prepare players for the next level.

I appreciate your point, but don't get too caught up in what system the kid played in. All rookies have to adapt to a new offense & the nfl in general.

I think the only way to justify drafting him is to use him in a variety of ways like he is at Fla. now. He can contribute right away as a returner. He may never be a great wr, but his running skills definitely translate to the nfl.
