Patriots Prepping to Pick Peppers from Panthers?

Patriots appear primed to make a deal with Panthers for Peppers

The trade that sent Matt Cassel and Mike Vrabel to the Kansas City Chiefs appears to be only the first phase of some major wheeling and dealing by the New England Patriots this offseason.

The second phase, NFL sources say, is likely to involve a trade that would send Carolina Panthers defensive end Julius Peppers to the Patriots in exchange for the second-round pick (34th overall) they received from the Chiefs on Feb. 28.

According to league sources, the Patriots and Panthers are hoping to complete the deal at some point between the March 22-25 NFL owners meetings and the start of the draft on April 25.

And they would still have 3 picks in the top 60. Not really a mystery how the Patriots win consistently.

Yea, if we could ever get a QB like Brady.

Yeah, they sucked with Cassel last year.

Seriously. Unreal. Isn't Peppers worth a 1st round pick though?

Exactly, if I were the Panthers, I'd be asking for on of their 1st rounders at least (shoot, the 1st and 2nd rounder, or 1st and 3rd). Maybe Darth Hoody has the Panther under his spell and he'll get Peppers with just that second rounder.

Ugh, I guess I should be prepare for an orgy of Pats complimenting in this thread. How easy ppl forget how Darth Hoody ran up the score on us two years ago.

For a 2nd rounder, I say that's a pretty good trade.

He definitely is, maybe Panthers couldn't find a partner to trade with and receive 1st round? I don't know

Peppers = 2nd rounder > than Taylor = 2nd + 6th Rounder = Redskins Fail

Any FO in the NFL > Panther's FO giving up Peppers for just a 2nd rounder.

Funny how you forgot to point out this equation.

Oh I remember. And the football gods settled the score in the Super Bowl. That doesn't mean their football operations are not impeccable.

Re: Patriots Prepping to Pick Peppers from Panthers?

Yeah I'd have to say that Panther fans have to be more irate at giving Peppers for a 2nd than us at getting Taylor for a 2nd and a 6th.
