Renaldo Wynn Agrees To Terms With Skins
The veteran defensive lineman has agreed to terms on a one-year deal according to a league source. The Redskins have been interested in him for a while, and Wynn was a team leader prior to being cut before the 2007 season. Since then he's played with New Orleans and the New York Giants.
He provides a wealth of wisdom to a group of DEs that is pretty young overall, and he might end up reunited with his good friend, DE Phillip Daniels, as well, as the Redskins hope to re-sign that free agent to a cap friendly deal as well. Wynn played in spot situations for the Giants, who boast the deepest line in the league, but here he joins Andre Carter as the only DE with any real NFL experience. Wynn is a run stuffer and solid technical player, but at this stage of his career is not going to provide much burst. He is as popular as any player to come through this locker room this decade, and will be welcomed back by offensive and defensive players alike. With DL coach John Palermo struggling to adjust to the NFL game last year, according to numerous team sources, after a career in college, Wynn's age and expertise should be a bonus in that regard as well. The deal may not end up becomming official until next week, according to the source, with Wynn expected to join Washington's offseason workout program at that point. He spend offseasons in Las Vegas, but also has a home in this area from his playing days here.

Wow, JLC got an inside story and it's only March 16!
This is cool... Wynn is 34 and has been mostly "resting" the last couple of years. He'll be serviceable and that's what we needed. ... also awesome to have a fantastic locker room guy since Marcus is gone and we don't know Daniels' fate just yet

Re: Renaldo Wynn Agrees To Terms With Skins
I don't get all the negativity on this... we know 1) there's jack squat for LDE talent in the FA market 2) we're probably not drafting DE in the draft i.e. @ 13 there's probably not a DE available worth the pick 3) our roster is ridiculously thin at the position.
C'mon people... you can't remold a team in a single off-season.

Re: Renaldo Wynn Agrees To Terms With Skins
I like the move. He can platoon with Daniels (assuming he's re-signed) and serve as a player-coach. Wilson, Buzbee and Jackson should all benefit from his presence. I still wish we had kept Taylor but that's backward thinking. Taylor is gone (along with our 2nd and 4th rounders) so I'm not going to dwell (much).
HAIL!

Wynn is such a great guy, and very underrated...but I don't know how much he has left to give

Re: Renaldo Wynn Agrees To Terms With Skins
The Front Office continues to dance the Cha-Cha, one step forward and one step back. We need a better pass rush, so we get AH to occupy blockers and collapse the pocket so the ends can make more plays. Then we sign Wynn who never could rush the passer. Bertrand Berry would have been a better option.

Re: Renaldo Wynn Agrees To Terms With Skins
Wynn is only here as a backup at best...really only an emergency plan if all our youngsters continue to struggle.
50/50 chance he even makes the squad imo
