Rak's reported knee and ankle issues

Watching ESPN and listening to NW insider, I found out that Rak has
had, for the past two years, recurring knee and ankle injuries that
have not healed correctly. In moving to the pros, do think there's
a chance of that recurring set of injuries becoming degenerative?

Could be something to look into but I don't think it's serious.

Re: Rak's reported knee and ankle issues

Of course the injury has to be considered and may drop him down on the boards of most teams. I think degenerative appllies more to bones but, reocurring ligament injuries are likely if not sucessfully surgeoned. A person's body has a lot to do with it too taking in consideration that this is a physically demanding game. Risk-reward if it's not a problem. If Ayers is gone at 13th overall I think we'd have to take that risk.

I wouldn't really worry about pre-draft injury concerns.

Just look at Rocky McIntosh and Malcolm Kelly. Both had league wide red flags about their knees before the draft and.........

Great point. Both of them drafted in the 2nd round though.

That's the reason I haven't been really high on Orakpo, but all else about him sounds good. I like it that he's a smart dude.

He had a great combine but it still sounds like he gets mixed reviews. I like E. Brown a lot too.

I hope we get either get one of the top 4 OTs or trade back.

Re: Rak's reported knee and ankle issues

I am not saying that the injury report is wrong.

However, every year on draft week, injury reports magically surface. It is a way of getting guys devalued at the last moment. Most of these reports are bogus or they would have surfaced earlier.

Even if the injury report is real, one would think that the FO has already looked into such health issues.

Good point, but JLC has said a no. of times that the FO went against the medical staff's advie in drafting M. Kelly. And Rocky was known to have a degenerative knee condition as well.

Also, wasn't Orakpo hurt a lot the last 2 years at texas? If he played w/pain that's certainly a plus in his status, but I thought he missed some games.
