Arrington Fined
http://msn.foxsports.com/story/3033184
The fines in this league are getting a little out of control. He probably should have been called for it but the fine is out of the question. |

First I've ever heard of someone getting fined for a face-mask. If he had been penalized would he still have been fined or was this the NFL's way of making up for the non-call?

jeez was it really that bad? He turned his head a bit but he didn't have hold of the mask for that long, initially he did but his hand slipped down to the pads. Seems a little ridiculous. Arrington is definitely a marked man.

Tis is absolutely absurd...
If you saw the replay, you could see A) It was OBVIOUSLY inadvertant and B) He grabbed the mask for all of .5 seconds with one (maybe 2) FINGERS! Then his hand DID grab the shoulder pad... thats what twisted Barber and cause the hip-flexor... what a rediculous fine.

Much worse or not - it was LEGAL. Just like the hitt Sapp put on the Green Bay guy. It wasn't necessary, but it was legal and you are often taught to clear people out when you can.
As far as a fine I'm sure he'll appeal and get it overturned. Mishaps such as facemasks will happen in a contact game like football. The No Fun League needs to stop fining people for seemingly no reason. |

It was NOT bad at all. What a bunch of crap. He surely will appeal. No way that nonsense will hold up. I agree with Smack, it sounds like a makeup for the missed call.

the only reason he even got the fine is because they didn't throw the flag. An awful move the the league but I am sure that he is more pissed off about his knee.

Ok lets analize this.
HE defiently grabbed the facemask no question, but do you think it should be a 5 yard penalty or a 15 yard flagrant personal foul. I thought it was more of the 5 yard variety. If so would the NFL consider finning all players who commit a penalty in a game. Do they have a rule to fine a player for a personal foul penalty? Need to check the rules on this one, anyone no where to go for this type of info? |

unless its really flagrant or intentional, you don't usually see a fine (those teams can write contract clauses for just about anything)... KWII was trying to punch a guy and didn't get a fine though, this is dumb, i doubt it sticks...
