Re: Happy 4th of July

Hope everyone had a good 4th and a safe one at that. We spent the weekend on the Outer Banks at my parents cottage and 4 people where killed while setting up for a firework show. They are not sure what happened but from what I read they just opened up the truck holding the fireworks and it exploded.

Man that sucks 1st down. My neighbor spent around $2500 on fireworks and it was a crazy good show. The amount of money folks spend on fireworks is crazy.

I can't say anything because I have a couple hundred $ worth sitting at home which I forgot to take down to the Outer Banks. Its real easy to sink some bucks on fireworks.

Leave the explosives to the experts. And people wonder why these things are illegal in most states.

I was in the Outer Banks 2 weeks ago and all the fireworks they were selling there sucked. Actually, its good for me that I were so crappy because I lighting them off when I was pretty drunk so I'm lucky nothing bad happened (especially when I threw a lit one at my friend).

I don't call what they sell in NC fireworks. The 4th is a fun weekend as they shoot off fireworks from all the fishing piers and everyone goes down on the beach to watch. Then you have all the people shooting off illegal fireworks out into the ocean. So the beach is lit for about 2 hours with fireworks going off all up and down the beach. I'll have to say its probably not the saftest thing having fireworks going off all around you but it sure is fun. They have tried to crack down on fireworks but I just don't see how they can stop the thousands of people from shooting them off.

Probably the most ironic part of my drunken fireworks show is that one my friends, who was assisting in the stupidity, is the son of a very well respected surgeon who pretty much only works with burn patients. The whole time we were lighting them he was saying "this is my dad's worst nightmare; this is my dad's worst nightmare..."

Those fireworks you buy in NC you would almost have to try and put them out on your face to get burned.

I want to see some football! And the sports pages of both the Post and Times just don't track the team in the off season.
