Review the Redskins Personnel Moves from 2005-2009

There has been a lot of talk lately about the personnel moves made over the years that leaded to our problems today. I posted the personnel moves the redskins made from 2005-2009 (excluding the offseason losses in 2005 and mid-season trades during the seasons) to look and get everyone's opinion on where they went wrong. And if you know who they lost in the 2005 offseason I couldn't find much other than Rod Gardner (I wasn't a Redskin fan at that time) and mid-season trades post it. Review and comment!!

What really jumps out to me is that since '05 we have drafted TWO offensive linemen. And really, how many quality/starting FA linemen have we picked up?
I think that sums it all up.

This doesn't include what we had to give up to get some of these guys

Some examples:

1st, 3rd, and 4th for Campbell (swap of 1st rounders)

3rd and 4th for Lloyd

3rd for Duckett

2nd and 6th for Jason Taylor

Two 2nds and a 6th for Rocky McIntosh (swapped one of the 2nds)

I was gonna say that 2007 draft looks like a real dud. Only 2 keepers from that draft. Phew. We either can't draft for shit or we have serious problems just trading away our draft rounds. It's not candy damnit.

There all pretty steep but they choose the wrong LB to trade this for a couple slots before McIntosh there was Demeco Ryans.

Yeah I was kind of hoping we'd target Ryans this off-season, but with no cap he's not an unrestricted free agent

Re: Review the Redskins Personnel Moves from 2005-2009

for the 06 losses i wish the skins would have kept lavar arrington, walt harris and ryan clark. the skins should have never let antonio peirce go in 04 or 05 (which ever it was) also should have never let smoot go, if the skins would have kept smoot they could of drafted someone other than carlose rogers.

Re: Review the Redskins Personnel Moves from 2005-2009

Lack of drafting O-line def, but overall during that time span I don't feel like it was a good track record of drafting. Looking at I'd give a C/C+ at best. I'm curious at how the other clubs in the division would rate over the same five year span.

Re: Review the Redskins Personnel Moves from 2005-2009

Good research and info. I know we've heard a LOT over the past week about the FO "not addressing the OL". Actually for FO did address the OL, however it was through FA and resignings, not the draft (the only caveat on this post at this point is that Dock isn't performing up to speed).

http://www.thewarpath.net/redskins-l...tml#post593662

Obviously we're in a tough situation now because the health of the 3 guys the FO expected to be the core of our OL for another couple of years succumbed to injuries. When these guys were re-signed they had all been pretty durable throughout their careers.

While I agree we need a GM and Vinny needs to move into the background, any moves prior to the 2008 off-season can't be pinned on Vinny. From '03-'07 Gibbs needs to shoulder the blame as he held the final say-so (he got real bad personnel advice from GW and Saunders).

The one thing that stands out about this draft is that Chris Canty was available several picks after we took Manuel White, Jr. As a UVA fan, I was really hoping we would pick up Canty -- and at the time, D-line was a need.
