Nonpartisan Vote

First I have to say that I find the title of this article offensive. But its a pretty good article, and its truly a shame that this town was forced to put party affiliation with each candidate’s name. I have never voted primarily because I find the 2 party system disappointing, and I speculate that many of the 40%+ that also abstain from voting have a similar primary reason. I also thought that it would be great to remove party affiliation from voter’s ballots, as this would cause people to vote for a person’s objectives (or not at all), and not simply because someone is a Republican or Democrat, or better yet Not a Republican or Not a Democrat.

Now that Obama’s Justice Department has said that this violates individuals civil rights do you think it becomes increasing difficult for additional political parties to become bona fide?

Justice concludes black voters need Democratic Party - Washington Times#

Re: Nonpartisan Vote

I agree with the side that says "remove party affiliations and make people do their homework to cast an informed vote".

I see the President's take on this as very offensive and racially-driven, as usual. Does he believe that the black voters need to see the party affiliation so that they can vote Democrat without doing any research? It certainly sounds that way.

Quote:
The Justice Department's ruling, which affects races for City Council and mayor, went so far as to say partisan elections are needed so that black voters can elect their "candidates of choice" - identified by the department as those who are Democrats and almost exclusively black.
Sickening how blatantly racist (yes, I view this as racist) this President is allowed to be in nearly everything he does. Sure, playing the race card allowed him to be elected President and has kept his party in power for many decades with payoffs to certain voters and classes of people, but it's shocking to see how out in the open these racial divides are becoming.

So many people blindly voted for Obama because they believed the false parables of him ending the racial divide...but I knew electing him would only create even more racism in this country, not because of hate for him, but because of his own policies and statements. People in opposition of Justice Sotomayor were called racists for not agreeing with her very shaky decisions and her track record of being overturned. Anyone in opposition to his healthcare plan are being called Nazis and racists by people in his Administration, Congress and even the President himself. Let's not forget about Van Jones.

He's on record being in favor of slave reparations. Yes, slavery was wrong, but NO ONE ALIVE was directly affected. We need to move on as a nation.

This issue is probably more important than the Redskins' problems, but I want to hope that we have a chance of beating the Cowboys. The way the Redskins are playing, I think I might turn to the editorial page first instead of the sports page from now on.

I like to watch Keith Obermann when I want to get fuming mad or pumped up for something. About a week or 2 ago he was valiantly making the case that people not in favor of government run healthcare are raciest. It was astonishing to me.

This decision by Obama’s Justice Dept is very offensive across the board to all Americans regardless of race. The small town is approx. 2/3rd African American, and the vote to make voting nonpartisan was supported by 2/3rds of voters.

The bigger thing to me though was that the Democrats and Republican parties are being segregated as parties either for your color or against it. And voting based off of someone’s objectives or credentials should be second to that.

I couldn't give a damn anymore. The way I see it, the old USA will look like Brazil in a few generations. That might not be a bad thing because those Brazilian girls have some big ole booties. Hopefully we'll skip their level of AIDS infection.

The AIDS rate in DC is higher than in some 3rd world countries. Needless to say, I don't date anyone in the area. (Sorry 12th)

I'm going to have to double check this here Saden. If this is true I'm going to Brazil!

D.C. is a third world shit hole. They re-elect a guy who got caught on film smoking crack with a hooker.

If you live there what can I say, move away. We'd love to have you down here.

D.C. a third world country? Hardly. When I went there a few months ago I hardly recognized the place...they've seriously gentrified D.C. over the last 10 years.

Like any big city it has its good side and bad side. But yeah, it by no means is a third-world shit-hole though. It never really was. There were some war-zones but most of it has always been ok.

D.C. has the unique disadvantage of being the permanent residence and meeting place of all of the most corrupt people in the nation.

Yes, all cities have bad spots, violence and stuff like that, but D.C. is the target of people who want to destroy the nation for personal gain.
