Zorn to coach the rest of the season

Jim Zorn will remain the Redskins' coach the rest of the season, according to Vinny Cerrato, the team's vice-president of football operations. Cerrato made the comments on his morning radio show, Dan Steinberg reports.

Really probably the best move but we need to clean house on 1/4/2010.

Re: Zorn to coach the rest of the season

Yeah he also said the whole "pulled out the contract" was "off the wall". VC basically said he told Jim about giving up the playcalling after the game. Jim said he would think about it and get back to Vinny.

I am guessing the real truth is somewhere between what Largent said and what VC said.

Re: Zorn to coach the rest of the season

I kinda expected this. Snyder doesn't want to fire another coach midseason... it's only going to reflect poorly on him in the end. Looking back I'm sure he regrets canning Norv during the season and wishes that didn't happen.

The best thing to do is ride out this season and then address things after the season ends.

This is assuming Vinny is there for the rest of the season.

I expect them both to be gone after Week 17's game, but I still do not think it is impossible that Zorn is fired this season after some horribly-embarrassing game that gets Snyder's blood boiling.

Re: Zorn to coach the rest of the season

I love how some posters will find negativity in this move. The masses just want to bash ownership, and that is gonna happen regardless of what they do.

This was the right move by ownership/VC. Quell the media and give Zorn support. Now ESPN and SC can stfu about firing Zorn 24/7. This doesnt mean ownership is off the hook, but for now they did the right thing by endorsing the Z-man.

Could serve as the public endorsement the players have been calling for. It does offer just a "little" stability to what otherwise has become a calamity. If there's any such thing as the "lesser of two evils" then Zorn is probably the best option at least until the end of the season.

Re: Zorn to coach the rest of the season

I also heard Vinny make those comments this morning, and I can't help but laugh every time he speaks. He sounds like an uneducated moron, and basically every public comment he makes is a defense for some asinine decision the organization has made, making him sound even more inept.

I know that slamming Vinny is cliche at this point, but I've always been in the camp that thinks Vinny is Snyders puppet. This season, I'm starting to think Vinny has a lot more stroke than I originally thought, and it's disgusting to think Snyder would allow that dude to be in charge of football operations.

Re: Zorn to coach the rest of the season

He does sound extremely defensive, I agree Southpaw. Def not indicative of someone who is confident in his moves, etc.

It's a no win at this point.
