Orakpo candidate for Rookie of the Week
One of the few bright spots of this season. I hope he keeps this up and wins DROY.

Re: Orakpo candidate for Rookie of the Week
He has not been used that much lately in the LB role as the last weeks Cris Wilson has stepped in and got burned... I Like Wilson there he just needs to learn the position... He does not have the pass rush ability Rak has!!! A very bright spot on a dissapointing season.
EXAMPLE: GOAL LINE DEFENSE VS ATL! WILSON GIVES UP TD TO GONZALES! |

Re: Orakpo candidate for Rookie of the Week
why not have a LINBACKER play that position? instead of trying to convert all these guys. i feel better with a old, broken down M.W. at linebacker. then i do with all these d- lineman. and congrats to the big O

Re: Orakpo candidate for Rookie of the Week
because it is the quickest way for him to get the most snaps. Plus it was a glaring need.
He will eventually play full time at end.

Re: Orakpo candidate for Rookie of the Week
I love Orakpo but there's no way he wins. Josh Freeman got a win for a winless team in his first career start and managed to throw for 2 td's and run for another against only one pick against a pretty good Packer team.

Re: Orakpo candidate for Rookie of the Week
he is leading rookies with sacks at 5.5 he has a good chance to be d rookie of the year if he keeps it up and gets pass coverage down a little better, it het gets an int it's a lock for droy

Supposedly Cushing at Houston is in clear contention to win that, as well as Jarius Byrd of the Bills who has 7 int's.

Re: Orakpo candidate for Rookie of the Week
i completly forgot about byrd, he is probably the front runner, i think orakpo has a better chance than cushing though, if he keeps it up he should have double digit sacks, but he would have to have an int and improve in the pass defense to win

Re: Orakpo candidate for Rookie of the Week
Orakpo is definitely in the competition for DROY; unfortunately for Orakpo, he's on losing team and losing teams tend not to get recognitions.. And not to mention that he's playing out of position, if he plays as DE full-time then it might be different story.. Although same thing can be said for Byrd, but Byrd probably is #1 in the competition right now though..

IMO, Blache should use cobra package often when we are playing teams with good TEs.. When we play teams with "we never have heard of" TEs, then use regular schemes or whatever.. So that way, Wilson and Orakpo would not get burned often.. |

Re: Orakpo candidate for Rookie of the Week
Speaking of rookie pass rushers, what's the latest on Jarmon? Can we expect him to get any PT soon?

Re: Orakpo candidate for Rookie of the Week
At this point Id say let him play most downs just to get some experience. Zorn is such a f-ing lame duck, we need to go with a youth movement to see what we got and get some experience with Marko, Tryon, Barnes, Jarmon, and Pineapple Jesus.
