Anthony Alridge and others signed to Futures contracts

First "moves" of the Shanahan era?

Alridge has played for Shanahan before and will be in camp.

Well, it's basically our practice squad plus Alridge who we waived, I think. I doubt Snyder assembled the practice squad.

Oldenburg, the one lineman:

SI.com - 2007 NFL Draft - Clint Oldenburg

BIOGRAPHY: Former tight end who's started the past three years at both guard and tackle. Previous All-Conference selection.
Quote:
POSITIVES: Good-sized blocker with nice strength at the point of attack. Quickly gets into blocks, stays square and is large enough to engulf opponents. Jolts defenders at the point, moves them off the line or easily knocks them from their angle of attack. Keeps his feet moving throughout the action and effectively uses angles.

NEGATIVES: Lacks solid fundamentals, struggles in space and shows limited ability blocking in motion. Does too much leaning on opponents and tends to play tall.

ANALYSIS: A nice-sized athlete with natural strength, Oldenburg is a developmental prospect who must improve his mechanics to have any shot in the NFL.

He's been around. Pats, Broncos, Jets, Vikings, Redskins...

Don't be surprised to see Alridge as the primary backup/change of pace back next year. Shanny was ready to name him the starter coming out of preseason in '07 before he got injured.

Alridge dosen't surprise me in that it was Snanahan who put Vinny wise to him. If Shahahan becomes the coach he'll probably find a way to use him where the previous staff only found fault.

Isn't he the same guy that had fumble issues in practice last pre-season?

I think in a couple of practices and a preseason game or something. Someone broke it down better a month or two ago how it wasn't as big of an issue as people had made it out to be.

He fumbled a kickoff in preseason that was a scoop-and-score for Jax.

Re: Anthony Alridge and others signed to Futures contracts

Should have seen the writing on the wall a few weeks back. I was at the dulles town center where they were having a redskins signing. The redskins were Mason, Sellers, Horton, Golston, and....Aldridge? And I was wondering why he was there? He must have known a lil something then...
