You helpfully point out that Jason Campbell is cheap. His bang-for-the-buck might be underappreciated.

He's not going to be that cheap, I think the lowest possible tender is in the $4.7-$4.8 million area, but in two respects that's pocket change: Danny-bucks, and percentage of franchise tag value (20-25%).
EDIT--Actually more like 25-33%. Still...

Re: Redskins Offense in 2009 and 2010
im afraid that this will be his 6th system and he will fail. But i think zorn's and shanahans offenses are simular i would think anyhow. i would like to give him a shot and give him a line and see how well he does...portis was right tho he needs to step up...if hes gonna be the leader he has the be it not only on the field but on the sidelines, in the huddle, on the practice field as well as in the locker room. Be vocal and show some emotion. Looking lost isnt gonna get your teammates enthusiatic about getting behind you and busting their asses for you.

Re: Redskins Offense in 2009 and 2010
Only problem for JC is it is going to take 2-3 years for us to really get a solid line in place, if not more. Don't expect 2010 to be that much better than 2009 if we still keep the same roster. If we didn't have such cruddy depth at QB, I would almost be tempted to trade JC if we could for some decent picks, but I know that wouldn't be very prudent given our current QB situation.

Re: Redskins Offense in 2009 and 2010
120% of the prior season's base salary (pro-rated bonus is not relevant).
That's the minimum, but the tender can be any number at or above the minimum. It can be $4,987,654.32. However, since the player doesn't have power of negotiation with regards to free agency, it makes the most sense for the team to tender at the lowest possible level for the compensation. In Jason Campbell's case, I believe that the minimum tender would be in excess of the 1st & 3rd round tender, so there's not a whole lot of decision to be made with him.
