Kerry for President

As a skins fan who'd thrown in the towel a long time ago (as far as the playoffs are concerned), I hope the skins and the presidential election streak is kept alive.

Observations:

1. Refs should never be blamed for the result of a game, but how many times do I have to single out Tom White and his crew for doing a piss poor job of officiating?
These guys almost cost us the game that we won against the Pats last year by ruling Coles' 3rd down and 32 yd catch an incompletion.
They botched the clock management in a controversial Baltimore-Seattle game last year as a result of which they were fined a game's pay.
They made two horrible pass intereference calls/non-call in our MNF game against Dallas which could've resulted in a 14 point swing.
Today - their officiating was inexcusable. The amount of DB-receiver contact that went uncalled was staggering. Ball spotting is always questionable, but the Packers were certainly the beneficiaries of some crucial spots on 3rd down conversions. And of course, the late illegal motion penalty against us when we scored, which was totally bogus.

2. Gibbs' main argument for defending Brunell has been that he doesn't turn the ball over. Well that argument has proved to be false, and Gibbs should humbly abandon his stubbornness, and realize that he was wrong about Brunell's ability to carry this team. No matter how the rest of the season turns out, he should focus on getting Ramsey acquainted with the offense. Brunell was simply inaccurate and inconsistent today.

3. Defense played fine considering the number of starters that were out, and caused TOs. I expected atleast 2INTs from Favre, but the D caused even more. My only knock on the D was that they didn't score. I started this thread last week about blocking after a TO, and it is relevant to today's game.
On Springs' first INT, he had to wait around for almost 3-4 seconds in the backfield for a block, after he'd made a fantastic play for the INT.

I'll take the loss, if this means Kerry will win on tuesday. Otherwise, the skins-election streak will have been a cruel joke.

A couple things.

#1. A political thread is always a bad idea.
#2. I agree that the Refs made a horrid call, and the worst that could happen is a fine. Chances are that's not gonna happen.
#3. If we are going to loose with our offense, lets get the kid in there and give him a chance to learn.
#4. I think there are about as many people around that want the election streak to be broken as there are that want it to be kept alive.
#5. EVERYONE GO VOTE!!! Go to each candidates website and find out where they stand on the issues and make a smart decision based on who you feel is best for the nation. No matter who you support, go vote. Just please be informed and please vote!

Level heads will tell ya that the Redskins' offense should have produced more earlier in the game to have avoided that situation...but still the call by the ref was a bad call! If it was the correct call, then "picky" is definitely not the word I'm looking for, but it is somewhere along those lines...oh how about anal???

I'm with the Ramsey bandwagon now, lets bench Brunell. It won't happen this week I know, but if we are going to have a QB over-throwing wide open receivers then it shouldn't be coming from a former pro bowl vet QB (Mark has been in the pro bowl before right??) I don't think Brunell is the only problem, but the biggest!

And heck, regardless of Presidential tradition or not, I will always be happy to see my skins win! Just not sure when the next time that will be???

I'm not telling anyone who to vote for but all I'm sayin is during the 80s the Republicans dominated the White House and the Redskins dominated the NFL. The 90s the Democrats take over and look what happens to the Redskins. 00s the Republicans come back and so does Gibbs...

Atleast those of u "fans" who rooted against the skins cuz of this stupid thing linked to the presidential race should be happy that u got your wish and the team lost. I think it'd be funny as hell if Bush(even though he, as well as Kerry r rather weak choices for our country's leader) is re-elected in spite those of u who turned your back on the team this week for that reason. As a diehard fan of the skins I always believe in rooting for the team to win wholeheartedly no matter what ties their potential loss might have. Of course I'm a person who believes that this kind of "stat" is just like many others which can be used to justify something and its kind of like the game 6 degrees of seperation(the kevin beacon game), if u want to find something connecting one thing to another, the information is out there somewhere, someone just has to waste the time and energy to find it.
