Wonder how Rothlisberger would have looked in Burgundy?
I know, I know, it's a totally different situation and Sean Taylor can be a great player, but right now it looks like the Steelers got the steal of the draft and we have a kid with great potential but a lot of baggage. As it looks now, had we taken Big Ben and not given up picks and a ton of cash to sign Brunell I can't help to think we'd be in no worse position and at least we'd have a franchise QB. Here's hoping Sean can straighten up and fly right.

Hate to sound like an ass, but we can wonder as much as we want but fact is.....we are what we are. This is like the 3rd thread about Roethlisburger, and I really don't see the point in "wondering" how good we would be with him. Accept the fact that we are not that good and stick with your team. I don't even know how many of us on this site are "real" fans. All I see is negative posts about Gibbs. It's just not right, and I'm sick and tired of it.
Sorry guys, but I had to say what I felt. This isn't towards you either Redwagonsksins, so please don't take this personal. |

I liked Big Ben a lot coming out of college, and felt pitt. defiently got a steal in the draft, but I still maintain no one would be singing his praises if we were the one's who drafted him, he wouldn't see the field for 2 year's, I would also say that I would take Ramsey, and Taylor over BR any day.

Relax Redskins P, I thought this was a forum where fans could discuss stuff even in the hypothetical. In no way am I inditing Gibbs; he's the best thing to happen to this team in years. If you don't want to discuss the topic then move on. I understand your frustration but part of the fun of sports is talking about what could have been. Just like the whole Vick vs. Tomlinson discussion here in SD, or the Babe Ruth trade in 1918 it's just something fans talk about. Ben could flop next week against the Eagles and a lot of people will be jumping off the bandwagon.
By the way, just because you don't agree with some decisions made by the team doesn't mean you are any less a fan. Following someone blindly is just plain stupid; you should always question decisions, especially if the team is 2-5. |

I hear ya man. Maybe I should've posted this on another thread. Like I said my post wasn't pointed towards you. I just see a lot of Gibbs bashing here. And all these "what ifs" threads seem pointless to me. Sorry man.....didn't mean to shit your thread. |

Now worries. Frustrating season but we can't just sit back and read about people S*****g on Gibbs in every thread. Sometimes it's fun to move the topics into less controversial and hypothetical subjects

I will try to say this with the least attacking tone I possibly can ( if I am unsuccessful i apologize). This is a super mega-retarded discussion. No one ever mentioned drafting a QB even before we had Brunell so we would never have even thought of it. I seem to remember everyone lamenting how bad our DL would be and how we needed a Lineman...never anything about a QB. We could sit here and do what ifs forever...how about this...what if Gibbs never retired and we didn't suck and we so didn't draft Heath Shuler and then we didn't suck some more and then because of that we drafted every good player that has been in the league and then what if...sounds dumb doesn't it? Any discussion of what if we drafted whoever (execpt for maybe Winslow) is dumb and pointless.

I said in another Rothlisberger thread shoulda, woulda, coulda, who cares.
It's easy to second guess moves after the fact. The Steelers got a heck of a QB no doubt, I give them their props. I don't regret the Taylor pick at all. The chances of us taking Rothlisberger were slim to none anyway, QB wasn't high on the list of priorities, especially not when Gibbs is well known for liking veteran QB's. I really don't care to dream about what could have been, but don't let me get in the way. |

Forget it. Let's just keep talking about how Brunell sucks, the game has passed Gibbs by and the refs keep stealing wins.

Um...we never would have taken BR. The whole point of signing Brunell was that Gibbs didn't want to roll with a rookie QB. If he *had* been willing to do so, he would have stuck with Ramsey. In either case, no BR.

I thin we should discuss something positive...
Personally I felt like we finally had some semblance of an offense in the second half yesterday. Of course GB has kicked it into "don't lose" mode and wsn't blitzing much but even when they were we seemed a bit more cohessive. Of course Williams adapted beautifully and our D picked it up big time in the 2nd Quarter on. I think if we play that way against everyone else this eyar we are 5-2 maybe. Hopefully we're picking it up. |

And what if the Skins drafted...anyone they didn't draft........It's totally irrelevant.
There is no guarantee that he would be performing the same way for another team, and there is no point in even wondering about it. I'm still glad we picked Taylor (for now ), but if we had picked Winslow, would he be injured? Would Taylor have gotten a DUI? Nope....No one knows what would have happened, so why bother even discussing it... |

I said forget it. You can all stop piling on already. One of the interesting things about history is looking back at a series of events and evaluating alternative consequences. What if the US had lost Midway, the French had not aided the American revolutionaries, or Bill Buckner had not flubbed a roler up to first? There is value on looking back at decisions such as: when you have a top ten pick do you take the best player available or the best player to fill a need. That's all. Once again, forget I brought it up and keep on rolling with the everybody sucks threads...
