Wide Receiver & returner? Draft? FA?
Of the cuts that were made last week, I think the one that surprised me the most was ARE. I know many here wanted him to go, but he's still a productive slot wr. He has long passed his best days as a punt returner & no one will miss him there.
J. Ried on RI said that he is smaller than Shanny would prefer, but I really don't think that was the main reason. His salary wasn't that big either if I'm correct. His departure leaves a slot (no pun intended) open on the roster. Will Marko Mitchell get more time? Will they sign a cheap vet? Will they hope to draft a wr/returner? What would you guys think if a good wr is there & we nab him? I'm not thinking the #4 spot, more like the 2nd round or mid 1st if we happen to trade back. Dez Bryant would be hard to pass up if all the best LTs are off the board. |

please stop with the Mitchell love fest. probably will not make the team. and between Thomas, Moss, and Hall, there are plenty of returners available

You can get a UDRFA to help out in the return game but, the team will draft a RB, possibly a guy who can increase his value there. Have we seen what Mitchell can do? He'll compete for a spot.

I think that Shanny is one of the best at finding running backs that most teams ignore. El was a classy guy but his time with us was up. He'll find another job and if not he's still caking it.
I don't think the biggest problem Shanny is going to have is a return guy, RB, or WR. We have cut most of the running backs and a WR. That's no loss. They weren't doing jack. The O-line and RB situation is going to be the most interesting to me. That and who they get for FS and NT. Those are the gapping holes now.

ARE's salary outweighed his production by far, he was paid quite a bit, like a number 1.
Thomas or some other young guy will probably still do kick returns, punts they're saying it'll likely be Tryon or Hall, but who knows. |

As for the question, I agree with Trample, Shanahan will make sure he has those parts covered, not a big worry on my part. It is interesting that we cut 10 players, 6 clear starters, and I don't feel we got noticeably worse, and may in fact have gotten better. What does that say about where we were as a team. It's definitely going to be an interesting camp this year. |

It's hard to say if Moore would get burnt too, all safeties do from time to time. On the whiffing and whatnot, who knows, he did some last year.

We have enough guys on the team now to take care of those duties.

We will find out this season if Marko is the real deal. Thing is he played for a run happy offense at Nevada. Wr needs to be addressed either this draft or next. The odds of all 3 newby Wrs working out are slim. |

Look for AA to to have an opportunity as a KR. I know some are down on him because he had problems with the fumbles, but that's something that can be corrected. |

Not crazy at all. If you draft a WR, he will compete with the others for a starting position. Do you really want to wait with the present crop for say another 2 seasons to just say they are a bust? I say the odds of the 3 newbies all being on the roster say in 2011 is 50/50 and beyond that 20%.

re: Wide Receiver & returner? Draft? FA?
I agree...Wide receiver is the last thing we should be thinking about in this draft. We have to find out once and for all what we have in the young guys we already have. However it should not be considered out of the realm of possibility we add another veteran later after tha final cuts.
