Re: Our Cap Dudes: Still Brilliant
Wow, that's pretty crafty. i'm wondering why this hasnt been reported elsewhere.
there is one part i don't quite grasp. is the fact that 2011-2014 are voidable only by haynesworth the sole reason that the bonus money only applies in 2010? is that some loophole in CBA rules? If not, i'd say this could be a sign that we would not at all be opposed to haynesworth leaving the team. i've said before i thought he would be traded during the uncapped year and this only confirms thats its not only possible, but perhaps even likely. i guess the major problem with trading him is that haynesworth would have to convince a 4-3 team to be willing to, not only pay him an additional 16M, but also give up draft picks for him. pushing 30years old, i'm not sure how much we could get for him. if the raiders ran a 4-3, al davis would certainly give us 1 or 2 first rounders for him next year. but unfortunately, they do not.

Our new FO is pretty good at keeping secrets. This is the first that I've heard of the AH/DHall renegotiations. They also are doing things the right way: using the uncapped year to create roster fiscal health while not mortgaging our fiscal future.

Re: Our Cap Dudes: Still Brilliant
This seems to give the coaches some leverage over these two players. For example, if they tell Godzilla to be NT and he balks, they can say "You are the NT and if you don't like it buy yourself out and go somewhere else". I don't see this happening but at least they have some options.

Sounds like Eric Schaffer is still the best in the business at massaging the cap.

Re: Our Cap Dudes: Still Brilliant
This is good to hear. I was thinking we were missing a great oppurtunity to use this uncapped year.

Smoot -- any thoughts on if Mt. Cody will still be around in the 2nd round for us? He'd be a great 1-2 punch with Keamantu to rotate NTs.

1) Trading down (we'll have tons of suitors) 2) Drafting Suh or McCoy Anything else would require reaching too far to fill a need IMO. So i have a hypothetical situation for everyone. Lets say where the Rams took Bradford, the Lions took Okung, and a team (perhaps Buffalo), fearing that we'd take Clausen, traded with Tampa Bay to draft the increasingly overrated QB. With both Suh and McCoy on the board, we might not end up with any offers to trade down and we'd be stuck at 4. Who would you draft?

Re: Our Cap Dudes: Still Brilliant
Damn I was waiting to hear about the Redskins doing something like this. I don't care what anyone says, they Redskins are by far the best at managing the cap. Now we should have tons of cap room if the cap ever does come back.
