Throw Downfield With Ramsey!!!
An interception downfield is not the end of the world, if the WR can tackle the guy, consider it a punt.
Brunell is a coward. joe gibbs is a coward. brunell wont admit he cant throw downfield. now physically he may be able to pass the ball 50 yards downfield but, all of those deep passes are lobs that give the defensive backs plenty of time to make a play. he is trying to throw so hard to compensate for his lack of zip on the ball that he is losing all his accuracy. mark, you robbed the team of 43 million. more importanly you robbed the fans and your teammates. give it up. now to gibbs. Admit you made a mistake by not making brunell workout for you. admit he cant put zip on a ball that travels more than 25 yards. you(coach gibbs) are ruining the season. what's the F'IN problem with throwing deep? Coles is a 2 time probowler. gardner is a big physical receiver. You called jacobs a "FORCE"... Brunell is killing the drives. the skins dont drive the ball for more than 7 plays. out of 2 3rd down passes, brunell is statistacly guarenteed not to convert both of them. No long drives equels NO POINTS... look at the TD drive today. started on the 30. portis first 2 runs were for 42 yards. thats to the other 30 yardline. then the drrive stalls and have to score on a gimmic play. the FG came after the long punt return by thrash to the detrout 40. 1 first down then a FG. THATS IT ALL DAY!. every week its the same thing. if you throw deep(with a quarterback that can actually throw), you give your WRs a chance to make plays. the skins actually have a good set of WR's. also, you have a a good opportunity to get a Pass interference call. when was the last time the skins had one? other teams practically call plays just to get a PI call. one PI call gives you a shot at a first down in the redzone. we've played teams missing starting cornerbacks but we never take advantage of it. every other team in the league throws at the reserve corners, yet we treat them like they are hall of famers going to intercept everything thrown their way. this shit is rediculous. most DB's are just trying to interrupt the route not intercept the ball. now if its 12 minutes left in the 4th quater with a 2 td lead at midfield, throw deep to journeyman Fernando bryant( a former brunell teammate). cole are gardner can get deep on him everyplay. most likey the WR will catch the ball, drop it, or get a PI call. if it is intercepted consider it a punt. deep interceptions are RARELY returned for TD's. the balls that are returned are the short crossing patterns, quick outs or the dump passes that either the WR tip or the QB over throw. the only balls brunell throws are crossing routes or comebacks. but his arm is so weak and inaccurate that the ball is either over the WR head or behind him. bill maas was complaining that WR's are droping ball but all the balls that were dropped were knocked away by a DB. the crossing pattern to coles was behind him and Bly was able to get a hand in there. the comeback route to gardner was so deliberate that the db was able to get his hand on gardners arms to disrupt the reception. all brunell passes give the DB a chance to make a play. there is no excuse anymore. brunell isnt throwing deep. all his short passes are inaccurate( all nfl QB should be able to throw the easy routes accurately, but brunell is missing guys like betts on a 3rd and long). here is what is going to happen the next few weeks. the opposing DB's realize brunell isnt throwing deep and the only balls he throws are comeback and crossing routes so they are going to sit on those routes. they will start knocking those passes away and all drives end in a punt because the other thing all teams are going to do is stack the Line to stop portis. i'd rather have a QB throw for 300 yards and 2 INT's than one that throws for 58 with 0 INT's. brunell is getting enough time. if you can complete your drop you have enough time. but he is waiting so long that the d eventually gets pressure then he roles out. now i know how steeler fans felt when cowar stuck with kordell stewart. im convinced koy gibbs is running the offence. we keep hearing the only reason gibbs came back was to get koy into coaching. i'd honestly rather have steve spurrier than gibbs.with spurrier and our defence, the skins would have atleast 5 wins. gibbs is lost out there. btw i think he is the greatest coach of all time. sorry for incoherent rant, i have no desire to proof read or spell check, im just ranting out of fustration. |

Wow, I understand the anger but let's just enjoy the W for at least 24 hours. Then we can get back to Brunell bashing.
Oh and yeah, remember that building a "team" will take some time...quick fixes don't work (see the last 12 years). Read the article about Snyder from the Washington Times. If he has patience anyone can have patience. Spurrier may have had an offense that moved the ball but I do recall many drives ruined by penalties or turnovers. Yeah, I know, how is it different this year. Don't you get a sense that the players care more about the team than last year...That's what Gibbs is teaching. Soon things will start clicking. I agree with you that our passing game is flat out horrible. For the record, I would like to see Ramsey starting also, but I think Gibbs knows what he is doing...afterall I'd rather him be the coach than anyone of us. |

Remember that Spurriers passing offense was one that beats up the QB every game.
That was one of the biggest problems. Ramsey got beat up last year. I do agree with a QB change, I just don't know what will make Gibbs change the QB. Maybe he is waiting for Jansen and and improved offensive line before he throws Ramsey in there. |

We won not because of, but DESPITE Brunell's play. Considering that has pretty much been the story for ALL 3 WINS, Gibbs HAS to see it. Yeah, it's not ALL Brunell, but like jamf says, having a QB that you and your opponent KNOW has the ability to throw it deep opens things up a little. Even if you aren't very successful with the deep stuff, just the threat of burning them does something...and right now it is completely non-existant.
I wish Gibbs would make the switch, but he won't because we won. |

if you pass for 58 yds and get a W, that means your QB is mark brunell, and you're playing either the lions or the bears
